I noticed that one may set cap to the air base hex, although the rules 11.3 say it is not allowed. It worked at GILI-GILI when I had ships in port. It did not work at lae when all I had was ground units. How does one get all of your fighters to protect the base if one does not use CAP?

Maybe LR-CAP and choose the base containing the air field as the target?:confused:

If you want to fill the skies with CAP, try adding some carriers based LR-CAP over the base as well.
