so you have empire? do you like it, I dl the darth mod but have yet to decide ot get it as it had such enormous bad press on release

V22 Osprey -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (2/28/2010 3:15:07 AM)

With the latest update and the darth mod, Empire Total War is more than stable and a fun game. However wether you should get sins of a solar empire or Empire total war, is completely up to taste. Do you want a space empire or an 18th Century one?

freeboy -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (2/28/2010 3:48:52 AM)

well, it has bee na long long time since I played >?? picture big empy circle here... Thegame had eight unique races, Psyons or something liek that, strange looking ones with giant heads where my favorite.... then there was a few others more modern... but nothing has really captured my attention! BUT I loved the Total war.. Shogun Rome Medievil M2with  mods.. playingStainless Steal and did not go for EMpire due to the press it recieved.. thats probably the direction I will go, and my sys seems to have no graphics issues no matter what I through at it.. must be the waythe card and system memory add up.. runnign a faster quad.. with lots of ram and a chepo.. 512 nvidea card... the card came wit hthe system and really does well at super high settingon everything! thats anotherstory... so.. it looks like I will just have to get Empire and forgo the pleasure of Sins in space

freeboy -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (2/28/2010 3:50:04 AM)

and THANK YOU
do you use the commande rdarth, darth lite
other for your darthing experience in empire?

htuna -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (2/28/2010 5:08:52 AM)

I bought Solar... played it once and never played it again.. It could be cool.. I just didn't get into it.. Empire and Medieval, I've spent many hours on..

V22 Osprey -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (2/28/2010 5:33:22 AM)

I would actually Recommend getting Napoleon Total War over Empire(if you didn't already buy it). However, Empire has a much larger Campaign map that covers Europe, India, and the Americas. Napoleon only covers Europe and North Africa(Egypt) you don't really get a "master" campaign where you get Europe/Africa together.

Here is it in a nut shell:

Napoleon - Continued Support by CA, slightly better graphics, attrition system, but Campaigns are very limited and suck.(And only covers Europe)

Empire - Pretty much dead as far as support from CA, but More(WAY MORE) Factions, India + America + Europe + A few territories in South America + Trade theatres Campaign Map, Great graphics.

Right now, if you already have Empire, Napoleon doesn't do much. Plus the lack of playable factions and grand Campaigns in Napoleon doesn't justify the purchase. Also, Empire covers a century of warfare while Napoleon total war covers only like 14 years.

thanks looks like Empire.. will get the dvd version boxed, wil the mods have any problem running the retail box version

thanks

Hertston -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (2/28/2010 12:01:41 PM)

Can't see the point of buying Empire now, unless dirt cheap. Might as as well buy Nappy when that is released, and SoaSE now that they are selling the complete bundle with the final 'mini-expansion' released.

I could be wrong, but I think Empire is on of those Steam games, so no matter what way you buy it, it's all the same, you'll install on Steam and download the latest from there..

There was issues with the download stream version and installing mods that the DVD did not .

freeboy -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (2/28/2010 3:07:49 PM)

the issue I have with nappy is the campeigns they are, as it seems from previews.. scripted.. I like a more free empire building and like the idea of playing in the 1700s.. nappy looks like a future purchase..
After all the best total war has always come out of the modding community IMO
so no nappy, not until I get one and its in bed .. oh  crack myself up!!!

ilovestrategy -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (3/1/2010 9:49:29 AM)

I have both and love both.

freeboy -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (3/1/2010 2:43:55 PM)

ok, u know what you meen.. you have both Nap TW E? as we discussed above? OR
are you on topic, I am so bad!!!, and you have Solar sins and ETW? thanks

Bison36 -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (3/1/2010 5:58:24 PM)

I enjoy both ETW and SotSE. Another option to consider is SotS with expansions. Its a pretty dang fun game too.

ASHBERY76 -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (3/1/2010 7:09:46 PM)

Imperium Galactica 2 is better than Sins as a real time 4X and cheaper.

I've never heard of this game. I'm gonna check!

Same here but I played SoaSE a lot and never could like it. Empire Total War, excellent game so far.

Two completely different game types. Both good, just depends on what you want.

htuna -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (3/1/2010 10:36:52 PM)

I'll have to give Solar another try... I guess it's just Game ADD... too many games too little time!!

Boy I agree about too many games and too little time. Life can be tough on us gamers. [;)]

I tried for days to like Sins, and everything about the game is done well. I just don't care for it and I'm not entirely sure why. After beta testing Distant Worlds since last summer, I really don't like any other space games out there now. I got spoiled. [X(]

I definitely recommend it. IG2 is one of the few real-time space 4x games I've enjoyed (looking forward to adding Distant Worlds to that list soon). [:)]

htuna -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (3/26/2010 10:51:34 PM)

Empire is on sale for 10.50 at Direct2Drive...

LarryP -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (3/26/2010 10:59:01 PM)

Never mind.

killroyishere -> RE: sins of Solar vs total war empire? (3/26/2010 11:01:41 PM)

I would suggest forgetting those two and get Galactic Civilization 2 and Medieval Total War origional with Vikings Invasion expansion. Why play mediocre games when you can play some real good quality ones?
