v.Manstein -> Is repair quicker when docked or disbanded (7/10/2002 7:12:29 PM)

I frequently visit this forum but I didn`t catch this:
Is it quicker to repair the ships when the TF is docked, or disband them as soon as they arrive at port. I know, port size matters but I am talking about a TF in one specific port.
What are your experiences?:)

Repair is quicker when the damaged ship is anchored rather than docked - so you need to disband the damaged ship TF.

Thanks, Spooky.

I have wondered that as well. thanks for the answer. I have also noticed that system damage drops about 1 point for every 2 days at Rabaul. I believe it is Port(8).

In fact, the smaller the ship, the quicker the repair :)

A DD or APD with a 40 System damage can easily be repaired in Rabaul or Truk while to repair a CV or BB with the same level of damage in these ports will take a very long time ...

The thing is that I have a CV with 17 system damage sitting disbanded in my port in Cairns. It took 2 weeks to knock off about 3 sys damage and I was just wondering, what would have been more efficient.

Armorer -> That's pretty good, in my experience (7/10/2002 11:58:55 PM)

Greetings,

2 weeks to knock off 3 sys damage is an excellent rate of repair, from what I've seen. In one of my previous games, I put Hornet in L'ville on 1 December with 15 points of sys damage. By 1 March, she was down to 12 points. Repairing capital ships in-theater, even if only slightly damaged, has been excruciatingly slow, in my experience.

By the way, L'ville was a fully developed, size 9 port, with 300k+ supplies, for the duration of the time mentioned, and Hornet sat and did nothing the entire time. Just in case anyone was curious.

Regards,
Randy

mogami -> Sprockets (7/11/2002 12:24:21 AM)

Hi, During the DEC- March time period there was an acute shortage of Sprockets in Pacific area depots.

Also in short supply were:
Grid Squares
Gun Target Line
Frequency Grease.
Sweat pumps
Main Deduction Gears
reversable Zenor Diodes
left handed monkey wrench

Dieter would be very upset. "You have become boring . . . " "Would you like to touch my monkey?"

wpurdom -> Experience with size 2 ports (7/11/2002 6:53:21 AM)

My experience is that ships with over 70 flotation damage docked in a size 2 port will tend to get worse. What is others' experience? Anchored in a size 3 port they always get better.
Does the rating of the naval commander of the task force affect the repairs of the ship? If so, what is the critical rating? I replayed a damage situation once with Wilkinson in command after having the ship commander did with it and it seemed to make a difference but that may have been random variation.
Do people playing PBEM games think it is kosher to go into the editor to sheck out co's full ratings?
