In reading the manual, it advises that 3 star generals in charge of an army will affect all units in the army. Also, 2 star generals will affect all units of a corp that they are assigned with. I presume that being this is a computer game, the specifications are followed pretty strictly!

My question is this: When you have more 3 star generals than 2 star generals, can you assign a 3 star general to a corp, and will he act like a 2 star general and effect all of the units in the corp? Or is his affect only effective when he is in charge of an army?

Likewise, will a 2 star general act as a 1 star general, when there is no corp for him to command?

Thanks to anyone who can answer this for me![&o]

Yes, you can assign a 3 star general to a corps, where he will act as a corps commander.

Yes, a 2 star (or a three star!) general will act as a 1 star (ie. affect 1 division) if he has no corps to command (2 star) or is not the army commander (3 star).

I am not sure, if you had two 3-star generals in an army of no corps, WHICH 3-star would act as the army commander and which would be acting as a 1-star. I would assume the BEST 3-star would be army commander but it could be alphabetical or even which 3-star was listed first in the army box. Not sure this info is given anywhere.

Along similar lines; what about generals in PBEM battles? If these are all conducted as quick battles where only the three best generals in a battle are utilized, does it really matter what ranks they have?

I'm wondering if three 1 star generals with excellent stats would be better than the correct set up of a 3 star with two 2 star generals in an army with 2 corps.

Is there really any point in having more than three generals in an army in a PBEM game? If only the best 3 or utilized, then what is the 4th-gun fodder for charges?

Should be better with a 3-2-2 setup than a 1-1-1, as the 1 stars will only give bonus to one div, while the 3 star will give bonus to the entire army and the 2 stars to their entire corps??
