I can't get the Chitose or Chiyoda to convert to CVL. They are in Tokyo and Osaka with "yes" selected. They have been there for over two months now with no joy. I had them with the air groups for a while, then without air groups for a while. What is the magic coding secret that a player has to follow to make this happen? There are other posts on this, but the questions are never answered.

for conversions just putting them to "upgrade yes" isnīt enough. You have to click the "convert to x" button in the ship info screen.

Ramjet,

Where are you in your game? The CVL conversion isn't available until late 1942, so requesting it beforehand is a non-starter.

You probably know this already, but are they disbanded in a port with a functional shipyard?

Zeta16 -> RE: Chitose & Chiyoda (3/11/2010 3:24:28 PM)

They have to be in Toyko as well, that is the only place where I have gotten it to work.

rader -> RE: Chitose & Chiyoda (3/11/2010 3:50:31 PM)

I'm not even sure Tokyo should work. It has only a 10 size repair year. I thought they needed something like 25.

In Scen 2 Toyko is 80 or 100 repair yard. That is the only place I could get it to work. I tried Osaka, Kure, Nagasaki, Yokohama.

I had them in Hiroshima for a few weeks, Nagasaki for a few weeks, both in Osaka, both in Tokyo, and now one in Tokyo and one in Osaka; still no joy. The convery to CVL is on "yes"

Is there enough repair yard space for them. They use repair yard space while converting.

Q-Ball -> RE: Chitose & Chiyoda (3/12/2010 7:03:08 PM)

Here is a question: Should you convert all 4 CS units as Japan?

I am still inclined to say "YES", but in AE I can understand arguments to keep them as CS units, maybe one or two, namely:

1. There is a lack of available airgroups to put on them, particularly Zeros, without using all the IJN LBA (Biggest Reason)
2. Conversions take 180 days, period, and cannot be accelerated to 90 days like in WITP. This means they are gone for the first 6 months of 1943, when they can still be useful, and when there is air partiy. Once they exit the yards, it's late 1943.....and the USN just got several new CVs. What difference will they make?

Mizuho is sort of a one-off because she is slow, though converted she is the same speed as Ryuho and the Junyos

I am inclined to keep one or two CS units, and I would keep one or two of the faster ones (and convert Mizuho)

You alreay have to find airgroups for Ryuho, I just don't think there are enough to equip 5 CVLs, and still have an LBA arm
