GeorgePatton -> Marine Defense Battallions displayed as ART (3/13/2010 2:13:45 AM)

Anyone else seeing this displayed on their Ground troop screen?

All my Marine Def units are showing up displayed as ART instead of INF.

I'm running the latest official major update patch 1.103a.

Is this just a cosmetic thing or does it actually have any effect at on gameplay?

Thanks

just a sort tag, has no effect on gameplay.

I think they should be CD instead which does have an effect on gameplay. I think. Maybe

It would indeed make a major difference if they are supposed to be CD units!

In the editor "Defense Battalion" is one of the suffix options for a (type=9) artillery unit. Oddly, it is *not* a suffix option for a (type=11) Coastal Defense Unit.

That's how it was structured in vanilla WitP, and we didn't mess with that structure in AE.

From the (limited) testing I conducted, the Marine Defense battalions performed the same as artillery or CD units. It is the accuracy rating of the devices (CD guns) in the unit that makes the most difference.

You are correct. In WITP, unit suffix type (like CD Unit) had much more meaning than it does in AE. It's the guns and unit quality that's important now.
