berndn -> Progress reports? (3/16/2010 9:36:18 AM)

While I love both CC WaR and CC TlD I miss some progress report, pictures of development or a development blog to show us what's going on.

I know that there was rumor of a 'final' patch for both but most of the times I only see Andrew trying to help and while it's nice to read that some failures are gone in his version of the 'game' I wonder willl we ever see them?

Is the developer group behind both titles defunct or working on something really new?

NDA's mean we can't say

I think most of us feel that it stands for......
Not Doing Anything?

Seriously though,
You guys at S3T do appear that if you tell/post anything about an update or a next re-release is going to actually hurt bussiness.
In all honesty I feel it does the opposite.

The release date for WAR was:October 28, 2008
The last Patch for WAR was:March 5,2009
Other than a few screenshots for Night Battles we havent heard anything conclusive for when an update can be expected or whats going to be updated.

I do agree with berndn and Platoon_Michael... what really hurts the new close combat releases is the LACK of information for so long periods of time... Why is the release date for the CC:WAR patch completely unkown?? The game still has important bugs... when are you planning to release its patch? In the next weeks? months?? Its last patch was released one year ago !!

Don't get me wrong... I do like these re-releases of the Close Combat games and I have actually bought all of them... but since they are esentially re-releases and we pay for them as if they were full new games you must commit to eliminate at least all the significant bugs in them...
In any case, thank you very much for bringing the Close Combat series back to life. I do appreciate it !!!

because nobody knows when it will be.

The one thing that hurts the release of a next patch is for us to understand that this isn’t following a normal standard as some other high profile games.
(Myself VERY much included)
The people who are working on this are volunteers, thus the amount of time spent working on a fix/patch isn’t the same as a 9-5 office worker. But probably more along the lines of a hobbyist.

But the lack of info I see no excuse

OK, Andrew, thank you very much for your answer. But Why does nobody know when it will be? Because there is not enough manpower dedicated to work on the patch and therefore it will take a very long time to finish it? Or because the publisher wants to delay the release date for the patch to a still unkown date due to commercial issues?

Dundradal -> RE: Progress reports? (5/25/2010 12:53:25 AM)

2 months later.....

Any news? Has anyone even looked at the code since then?

What is going on?

Do I need to flood the help desk with requests for this?

berndn -> RE: Progress reports? (5/25/2010 7:32:51 AM)

As I'm following the progress of GPL development (Grand Prix Legends) I'm used to loooooooooooooooooong development times but in contrast to GPL the re-releases have been sold buy a company.
While it might be that there's little man power why not release the 'final' patches as open beta to gather information?

Any news would be more then welcome :)

Andrew Williams -> RE: Progress reports? (5/25/2010 8:08:20 AM)

No news  (is good news?)

berndn -> RE: Progress reports? (5/25/2010 9:17:06 AM)

Any news (good or bad) is good news [:D]

Years of no news is good news? No way.

Saying that it can't be talked about because of NDAs is also silly. You should be able to mention whether any work is actually being done or if the application has been abandoned.

I sent in a helpdesk form about the patches and got back a form response telling me to ask at the tech support forums.

You ask here and you get "no comment."

Is there any way to get out of this stupid circular logic?

Andrew Williams -> RE: Progress reports? (5/25/2010 9:07:09 PM)

Work is being done... ther is no news on a second patch release date. (last patch Nov 2009)

Dundradal -> RE: Progress reports? (5/25/2010 11:24:50 PM)

Andrew are you trying to make me laugh? Because this sounds like a (insert your respective government here) government job. "Work is being done but there is no news."

Not being a jerk, but how can work being done yet there is no news on that work? [:'(]

Andrew Williams -> RE: Progress reports? (5/26/2010 12:00:34 AM)

You wanted a response.

i gave you all the information i know.

Work on a patch is being carried out.

There is no information available as to a release date for above patch.

if someone with more information wishes to reply then you will get more information.

Dundradal -> RE: Progress reports? (5/26/2010 1:58:00 AM)

I was responding more in jest than angry. It was just kind of funny.

Thanks for at least reporting that something is happening.
