Michael,

Where is the doc located to explain how this works?

Very AWESOME addition!![&o]

michaelm75au -> RE: Allied USAAF update 2 (6/10/2010 11:15:23 AM)

I thought you fellows would work it out for yourselves.[:D]

It is basically same structure as for the plane folders, but a bit easier as ships are already individual images.
But I'll update the current doc when I get a chance.

AlliedShip_back  (standard/default)
AlliedShip_backYY (where YY is the game year)
AlliedShip_backYY/MM (where YY is the game year and MM is a month with the year)

JapShip_back  (standard/default)
JapShip_backYY (where YY is the game year)
JapShip_backYY/MM (where YY is the game year and MM is a month with the year)

I have updated my revolving artwork utility to handle rotating ship as well as aircraft artwork based on the info above.
(Michael, I assume the transparency files (Shils) are treated in exactly the same fashion...)

If anyone would like this utility to make the creation and formatting of rotating ship art distributions a lot easier, please feel free to use it. (I don't do ships...)

The instructions including a tutorial are included in the zip file.

Any suggestions on how to make this tool (or the instructions) better will be gratefully accepted.

Updated to Version 1.3 due to a bug where the "All Years" image wasn't being written to the correct folder.

Halsey -> USAAF art update 3 (6/11/2010 3:43:35 PM)

USAAF update 3.
28 new, 2 updates.

Mifune -> RE: USAAF art update 3 (6/11/2010 9:37:41 PM)

Much appreciated, does anybody know which bitmap the patch overwrote?

Halsey -> RE: USAAF art update 3 (6/11/2010 11:27:48 PM)

Most are paint fixes on the borders and such.

A few are hidden gems for obscure airgroups, that I've happened to stumble upon.[:D]

Is what I recommend, is to unzip them to a seperate desktop folder.
Then you can actually see the thumbs.[;)]

Paste them to the correct art folder, then it'll ask you to overwrite.
Click no, then you can see which is leftover.
Then you can compare it to the old bitmap.
You can then decide whether to replace the older version.

If you are talking about the V1106c Patch 4 Beta, the attachment shows all the included bitmaps.

This comprehensive patch includes the game interface, map, default aircraft side and top art, default ship side and transparency files. It looks like there will be few items of the new artwork posted in this thread that will be over written by the official patch. However, you may still need to re-install Carthartes' new aircraft tops if you had it installed.

Edit: I use JoneSoft Mod Enabler so I can uninstall my mods, apply the patch then reinstall the mods knowing that nothing has been overwritten.

Halsey -> USN Patrol/USMC update (6/12/2010 9:36:59 AM)

USN Patrol's and ZP's.
USMC VMO/D's.
1 update.

cantona2 -> RE: USN Patrol/USMC update (6/12/2010 10:13:39 AM)

Thanks once again Bull

Halsey -> RE: USAAF art update 3 (6/12/2010 11:55:51 AM)

Michael says that all the stock art got overwritten.

I keep a seperate modded art folder for the overwrites in an extra folder.
Then all I have to do is copy and paste after every major patch.
Have one for sounds too.[;)]

Nice tip Halsey, why didnt I think of that.[8|]

Reg -> Imperial Crest - pt1 (6/14/2010 2:45:09 AM)

quote:

ORIGINAL: Tone

Here is Imperial Crest for commissioned Japaneses ships - thank you Tone

Thank you to divepac88 that did this for me.

Simple item that has a big effect. I have reformatted DivePac88/Tone's Imperial Crest graphic into a placeholder for all the IJN ship slots from 0001 to 0546. This should get all the commissioned combatants down to but not including the PT boats. The Imperial Crest will show up on the Ship Information screen.

I have put this pack together is so you guys can simply install and enjoy DivePac88/Tone's work. I think I have missed a few escorts as they were mixed in with the Marus and PTs but there shouldn't be too many.

If you have already installed your own IJN ship patches, be careful that this placeholder set doesn't overwrite them.

Installation:
=============
Just unzip into your game folder with the 'Use Folders' option set. (The zip archive already includes the art folder)

The download link for Part 1 of 2 is at bottom of this post.

Apologies to the 8 or so guys who downloaded version V1.2 but you will need to download and use the latest version.

Download from here: Revolving ArtWork Utility

Recovery for distributions created under V1.2:

If you have already created distribution sets you will need to recreate them.

Alternately it may save a bit of repeated effort if you just copy and paste the following lines to the end of the "xxxx_f.bat" configuration file and run the build-dist.bat script again.

if NOT EXIST %2\Art\AlliedShip_back mkdir %2\Art\AlliedShip_back
if NOT EXIST %2\Art\JapShip_back mkdir %2\Art\JapShip_back
if NOT EXIST %2\Art\AlliedShip_Transp mkdir %2\Art\AlliedShip_Transp
if NOT EXIST %2\Art\JapShipShills_transp mkdir %2\Art\JapShipShills_transp

Sorry about that guys.....

Mifune -> RE: Revolving ArtWork Utility V1.3 (6/14/2010 11:25:48 AM)

NAVMAN -> RE: Revolving ArtWork Utility V1.3 (6/15/2010 11:22:10 PM)

Hi Reg:
Was any of your rotating air art that we installed impacted by the latest beta patch?
Also, did you include FM-1 Wildcats in any of them?

Thx!

As the rotating art files are all new*, there is no chance of them being overwritten by the default art in a comprehensive patch.

This post includes an attachment that lists all the bitmaps in the patch.

Edit: * This is only strictly true for aircraft rotating art (and the LCU and SHP patches). The 'All Year' image for rotating ship art will be overwritten. Also improved default files such as Cathartes fantastic new aircraft top art will also be overwritten.

Ummmmm, Errrr.... I was kinda hoping no one would notice. [:(]

I did say that release was a first pass only and that I couldn't guarantee it was complete. However, I have attached a zip file which are just the F4F-4 images copied into the FM-1 slot to get you by.

As usual, just unzip into your game folder with the 'Use Folder' option set (the 'Art' folder is included in the archive).

I am waiting on a reply from Cathartes before I release the next batch.

Edit 30Jun10: As a special request Cathartes has generously provided some FM-1 sideart. The attachment has been updated with the new images.

Zebedee -> RE: Revolving ArtWork Utility V1.3 (6/17/2010 11:33:21 AM)

I can provide hosting/mirror if required. PM me or sommat and I'll get my shidazzle sorted and get it set-up.

Halsey -> RE: Revolving ArtWork Utility V1.3 (6/18/2010 2:46:50 AM)

Feel free to use my bitmaps.
They are posted in order, with updates.

More in the works, had to take a break after last weeks binge.[:D]
