cantona2 -> RE: Rotating Art Update Set 002 Version 2 (10/7/2010 6:42:21 PM)

Reg a question if i may.

Here is a screenie of the Art folder after installing all these great rotational art works.

Inside the 44 folder for example i find some extra folders with planetops as well as sides. Will the planetops change as well or will they only change with Cathartes tops installed? thanks

The extra folders you see (05, 06) mark the month of the year when the tops/sides will change. Doesn't matter if you have Cathartes tops installed or not.

If you look at the first post in this thread, you will find a document by MichaelM that describes the folder structure used by the rotating art function of WITP-AE patch 3.

I wrote a utility which you can download here to put all the artwork in the correct locations but most people just wanted to install a preformatted package into the game folder so that is the way I usually release it.

As TOMLABEL says, the subfolders are for rotating art that are activated at a specific month during the year.

The rotating art in the year folder applies for the whole of the year but only for that particular year. You will find that if you have installed version 2 of my rotating art, there will be planetop artworks in the 44 folder as well. You may have to scroll down a bit.

MichaelM has written the code that both the side and top art rotates if it exists in the correct locations.

If you look at my post above (Post #: 474) you will see a column called Default which is the artwork used if none of the rotating art is activated. This art work is supplied with the game in files A_PlaneSide.bmp and Aptop.bmp.

I recommend that Cathartes top art to be installed simply so the style of the default artwork matches the rotating artwork*. No other reason. [:)] It's far better than the planetops supplied with the game anyway. [;)]

Cathartes did the default sideart supplied with the game so it already matches the rotating artwork*.

I hope this helps.

* Please note I cannot take any artistic credit for creating this work which was all done by Cathartes, I only reformatted it so it rotates.

If you supply the art work, we will roll it in. [:)]

We're not biased, it's just we have found that JFB art work has always been a bit thin on the ground.

@Reg

Thanks for the explanation. Seems I installed everything correctly, but I prefer the game tops!!!
Looking forward to future updates

Halsey -> Japanese LCU Update (10/16/2010 1:26:21 PM)

Japanese LCU update 29 and 30.
Burma and RTA Army.

drw61 -> RE: Japanese LCU Update (10/18/2010 1:03:08 PM)

Here are some LCU patches to help distinguish what the different types of engineers can do in the DaBigBabes Mod. They are generic backgrounds and are not the historical patch for the units. Some have Nav Sup / Shr Prty ( Naval Support / Shore Party) on them some Combat / Shr Prty etc.
These work properly only with the DaBigBabes Mod.

Enjoy, Daryl

Smeulders -> RE: Japanese LCU Update (10/30/2010 6:57:49 PM)

Slowly but surely making my way through the badges for RAN Bathurst class ships. If there are any Australians out there, would you know any good places to search for the Coat of Arms (or Achievement of Arms) of cities. According to the RAN site these were often used by ships carrying the name of a city and so finding a good source for these would be a good way to fill the gaps from the RAN site.

Smeulders -> RE: Japanese LCU Update (10/31/2010 10:51:43 AM)

Some 30 badges for RAN minesweepes.

The final batch of USN Sub badges, this time for all the Tench class subs in the game.

Halsey -> Help naming AGPunits (11/20/2010 2:34:57 AM)

Could really use some help with renaming AGP bitmaps.
I don't have enough time to handle all on my plate.

Any volunteers?[:D]

Theses are prepackaged, they only need unit ID's to complete.

1.Here are Japanese AGP's.

Halsey -> RE: Help naming AGPunits (11/20/2010 2:36:03 AM)

2. Soviet AGP's.

Try the AGP/SHP/LCU Patch Replication Tool which can very simply create multiple copies of AGP/SHP/LCU Patches. You just need to know what slots to copy them into.

AGP/SHP/LCU Patch Replication Tool

Lesbaker used this tool very effectively to create lots of Allied minor ship patches.... [:)]

Halsey -> RE: Help naming AGPunits (11/20/2010 2:00:46 PM)

Doing the Allied AGP's and LCU's is all custom work, one bitmap at a time, so I was hoping others might lend a hand.[;)]

Here's a set of USN flight wings.
These are for US CV airgroups.
No way to do them realistically, as these groups actually rotated on and off CV's the entire war.
Edit and save as a 24bit bitmap and rename to all the US CV AGP's.

Here's all three previous sets of flight wings in one zip.
