ORIGINAL: bwheatley explorer i know there were historically no ports on wake midway etc. But without ports it makes it a real bear to supply those islands. Perhaps putting ports on them along with more big sea hexes around them will give you the simulated hardness of getting supply in but also will allow the things the ports help with. That's a pretty good idea I will give much consideration to. The biggest problem with making them ports is that naval vessels then get to refuel and heal there, which is an actual problem game wise. In reality, damaged ships or ill supplied ships had to find a safe way to limp home, and this was a perilous journey and usually required escorts. But I also recognize that land units stayed in supply simply by ships servicing them and having smalller boats unload them (though at the time of unloading, the supply ships were quite vulnerable, for example at Guadalcanal). The ideal would be a new unit that was a supply ship that could transfer its supply from sea hex to land hex. Short of that, your solultion may be better than the current more geographically accurate one. It's just the idea of ships having safe harbor at Midway, Wake, Iwo, etc... is bad for me, but maybe a necessary evil.
