Kids will buy them with a DRM. They dont care. Probley some years from now they won't even know the difference, because that will be all they have ever knowen. I speaking mainly of the EA type game companies.[:(]

I hate starforce, games for windows live, and I also hate the idea of having to be only to play single player games. I love steam, though what NefariousKoel seems to imply, I don't think anyone here as ever denied it to be a DRM. However, the problem is that even if these big companies tank and small companies take over, once these small companies grow, won't they eventually have to resort to DRM as well? And I doubt companies like Matrix, HPS, or other small companies would grow anyway because Wargames are a very small market to begin with. Plus, these companies may never go under because everyone likes those games like Modern Warfare 2.(I can't stand this game, yet people act like it's the best game in the world)

As V-22 Osprey noted, however, the massive popularity of some games makes it almost certain that DRM isn't going away any time soon.

I really wish more companies could use the system that Matrix Games uses; it's one of the main reasons I purchase games from Matrix.

I love Steam for this reason. No CD checks and no hassles. Even playing on the wife's laptop is hassle free. I just have Steam set on offline mode and I have never had a problem playing single player games on it. I don't even remember how long I've been using Steam. It was when Half Life 2 first came out.

Well, the playing on a laptop keyboard is a hassle but that's a topic for another thread...

The only reason this DRM doesn't seem to be universally tossed out is because, if you notice, it's just the large gaming companies who are trying to shove this down our throats. These are the companies run by 'business execs' who aren't gamers who don't know anything better than their bottom line and the nonsense about rampant lost sales due to piracy propaganda that DRM companies feed them, hence threatening that bottom line.

I'm not some anti evil-business conspiracy loon but it's easy to see that this is the case in one form or another. The small-to-mid sized gaming companies generally avoid anything intrusive/restrictive at all.

No, it is their parents who will buy them.  Probably another reason they do not care as much.
