Really appreciate the folks who made SP work in Windows. All my favorite games were trash with my ?upgrade? to Win 2K. Now I can get thrashed in windows.
Two questions:

Has anybody seen the same sort of thing done to "Age of Rifles"? Boy, how I miss that one.

And..

Choosing a weapon to fire, the "c" key I think. I have never been able to figure out how to use it in any version of SP. Everytime I choose an MG on a tank I get the main gun. Anyway that is the sound effect I get. What am I missing?

Welcom abaord. When using the "c" key a pop up box will come up with numbers assigned to a specific weapon. Enter the corresponding number to the specific weapon and bam only that weapon fires. You must have a unit targetted first and the unit has to be within range of that weapon also, and it works very well I might say. That way your not wasting small caliber weapons on heavy armor and vice versa.

But i love the sound of thousands of rounds bouncing of armor.The c key is especialy usefule when using flame tanks,alot of times the flame weapon is the the second or third weapon down so if you open up with the big gun first alot of times the target will move before the barbque begins....

Tanks for the responses. I have a target and I get the numbered weapons options but I still get only the main gun to fire. I've gotta be close enough for MGs. Infantry at 2 hexes seems mightly close to me. I've tried the number keys on both the numerical keypad and at the top of the keyboard. I always get the main gun.

Supervisor -> What battle (7/13/2002 10:05:02 AM)

Which battle are you playing it sounds like the scenario might be bad? Your hitting the appropriate number while the pop-up box is up correct, 2 hexes should be close enough.

I have never gotten it to work in any scenario or campaign in any version of SP I've played. It's always pissed me off too cuz it's so pointless for an AT crew to fire their main gun at infantry. It's gotta be something I'm doing wrong or misunderstand.

There's another way to do it, it just requires a little more time and effort, if you select the squad you want, hit the space bar, and click on the weapon you don't want fired, the weapon will turn red (inactive) and will not be fired. I do this with my tanks, turning the main gun off to save ammo and only use the MGs

chief -> (7/14/2002 11:06:03 AM)

I've noticed that when I haven't fired at a given target and I want to use the "c" key, I first have to use Target key and fire at the target the first shot will use all available weapons then I can select the 'c' key. I also prefer G_x's version and method of selecting a weapon or weapons. The 'c' key method is a dead position giveaway.
:( :cool:

Agreed, Using the C key I believe is just a shortcut to manually turning the weapons on/off in the unit info screen, and then hitting F.

I've only used it once or twice and always got pounded by OpFire afterwards.

Supervisor -> (7/15/2002 10:20:53 AM)

I did say earlier that a unit must be targetted for this to work. The "c" key is based on a 1 time given opportunity for the given circumstance, turning weapons on and off via the unit info can looked upon as a complete turn adjustment as a minimumdue to fact the will remain in a state until changed even through op-fire and another unit encounter.

G_X -> (7/15/2002 1:43:05 PM)

Yeah, but you can just change it back right before you switch to the next unit for opfire and such.

robot -> c key (7/16/2002 7:20:30 PM)

First hit target to focus on enemy then hit t key again thenhit c key works that way. Has always worked for me especially when engineers are using satchel charges.

chief -> (7/16/2002 11:53:26 PM)

Thanks robot that's a new approach, I'll give it a shot....Danke:D :) :cool:

Baldrick -> (7/17/2002 9:32:44 PM)

Thanks for the help. I finally got it to work. I have to target something twice. The "t" key and a confirmation then "c".

Supervisor -> (7/17/2002 10:08:21 PM)

Maybe we should have been a little clearer. Using the "t" button allows you to cycle through all targets seen by that unit but unless you use the "f" key to fire all available weapons at it or the "t" key targetted key a unit isn't really targetted yet, sorry for the confusion. Once it is targetted in the text box at the bottom it will show what is currently targetted. If that unit get destroyed or moves out of sight of your unit, you will have to retarget a different unit.
