Blenheim or Beaufort?

John Lansford -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 7:00:49 PM)

How can you guys recognize the plane type from such odd camera angles?  Please post how you do it when you do this for us ignorant ones!

cantona2 -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 7:02:09 PM)

Just a guess based on the canopy John. Like you I'm totally flumoxed by the experten on here!

mike scholl 1 -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 7:38:02 PM)

The "saddle MG magazine" looks German....

I was thinking the same thing too. I'll settle for a Dutch aircrew though.

Charbroiled -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 7:50:31 PM)

Looks like apples to me.

Seeadler -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 7:53:58 PM)

Could be a Ju 88.

chesmart -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 7:55:15 PM)

139WH-3 Dutch Bomber

Dixie -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 8:00:17 PM)

I'm going to say not a Blenheim or Beaufort, the top of the cockpit looks wrong for either of those.

Swayin -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 9:06:28 PM)

Blenheim

would have been my guess too

Must concur, along with the flying kit and a pilot only set of controls (uniquely German if I recall). Perhaps export German used by the Dutch? On the other hand, the earphones look British. I am not an "experten" but this is fun.....

I'm not going to say a P-51D Mustang, as the top of the cockpit looks wrong for that one too.

Local Yokel -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 9:55:09 PM)

The control yoke and canopy framing look very similar to those found on a Dornier Do-17, but I can't see what connection there would be to the Pacific War. [&:]

harley -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 10:01:17 PM)

Spike Milligan and Harry Secombe from the Goons in a publicity shot.

Peter Sellers plays the part of the machine gun.

chesmart -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 10:24:51 PM)

I think I was wrong first time. I will try second time.

Their is no conection, Apoligies one and all, I was in hury this morning and took my source at face value, originaly labaled as a Do-24, this is definatly not, and I am convinced after some considerable looking around it is almost certainly a Do-17.

I should of spoted the canopy as being suspect right off.

Mynok -> RE: Name This!...(38) (3/23/2010 10:46:18 PM)

That's mildly comforting because my first guess was a Do-17 as well.

Uh-uh. No way, jack. You don't get credit for guesses that you don't put down in writing on Brady's brain benders, bub. [:'(]

Brady may have been co-opted by the German's in the Pacific modding lobby. Or maybe Matrix is considering an Atlantic/Med version of the game...
