If a user goes away from the computer - for a cigarette while it saves, for example - he'll miss events. While it isn't a big issue, this should be a 5-minute code change and will make things simpler for most players. Well, at least till they sort out their game save code. I suspect they're saving a lot of information which isn't necessary. All they really need to store about the galaxy is the seed and any additions/removals. But who knows what they're doing - that's just a guess.
