Hello all, new to the forum and the game. I have just started playing (small galaxy, no other empires unless they evolve from independents) and so far I am enjoying the process of learning the game. I did have one question however regarding starports, defence bases, resort and research facilities.

Essentially, is it possible to build them AROUND a planet so that they are in orbit around the world, rather than sitting directly on top of the planet. I know you can build them anywhere in space, but they remain fixed in position as the worlds move and I would assume confer no bonus to nearby planets.

Basically I ask because if you have a large starport, defence bases, research and resorts around a single world, you can barely see it! It is really cluttered - especially with ships - and difficult to make out what you are clicking on.

I would love it if the bases could orbit the planet as it orbited the star. If that can't be done at the moment I understand, but you get nothing if you don't ask. :D

The planets orbit around their stars, so building one out in space will remain stationary. If you tell your constructors to build it at the planet, you dont have a choice where it goes. When you build at a planet, you have no choice where it goes. As you get more experience with the game, it does make sense.

Actually you do have a choice, if you build a starbase from the context menu (select the colony and right click somewhere around it) it will be built where you clicked. Just make sure it says "build at planet ..".

Is there a maximum number of starbases etc that can be built at a planet?
