Scharfschütze -> We stand firm! (8/12/2002 3:39:21 AM)

The commissars are out with our brave fighting men to counter the U.S. propaganda. The soldiers of the Red Army know full well that sometimes great sacrifices have to be made to ensure victory.

While we cannot deny that the enemy tanks are wearing on our infantry, they are getting fewer in number: Another Pershing falls to a ISU-122´s gun, and in the north our glorious soldiers torch the engine of a overly audacious M26, immoblizing it and hopefully killing a few of the crew (**hull damage). :p :p

Our mortars are still firing, with predictale results: Several more dead Rangers:D

Rokondo -> Total Annihilation (8/13/2002 12:42:56 AM)

The call of the president to surrender is over!
The Red army continues to fight – This mean that Total Annihilation will be.
We will kill all the Red troops – No option to surrender this time :D

In the north we kill few Red units.

In the center we kill one Red unit.

In the south hill we mange to hit the last tank main turret (I think it’s the last one – I did not see any tanks for many turns)
Our troops kill many Red troops.

(Read what I write in the World Cup for you) :D

Scharfschütze -> The day the Rangers died... (8/13/2002 2:06:23 AM)

We are regrouping, ready to meet the inevitable onslaught. High command has ordered our force to hold this sector at all costs, and the cost is high and rising.

But we will fight.

The enemy´s losses are mounting, and the time will come when their strength is gone.

We hope.

Rokondo -> Run > Run if you can (8/14/2002 12:42:27 AM)

The Red army starts to run back to Russia.
Stalin went to his bunker! (He know that he will be hung for this war)

In the north we kill the last red unit who was there.

In the center 1 enemy tank is burning & few red army units disappear. :D
Our troops are knocking on the doors of Moscow.

In the south no resistance & our troops continue to advance.

Scharfschütze -> (8/14/2002 11:06:03 PM)

That tank was lost due to cursed luck... again!

Lets see:

A Pershing moves down a road, some 20odd hexes away. As planned, I might say, a ISU tank destroyer was waiting for it.

The ISU-122s fires.

48% hit chance:cool:

Misses:mad:

The Pershing apparantly can´t see it:D . moves another hex up the road, the ISU fires again

74% hit chance, looking really good:cool:

Misses again

Now the M26 had figured out where the shells are coming, and returns fire.

22% hit chance:(

AND HITS!!!

and, of course, manages to penetrate with Pen 177 vs. 174 armour.

I hate it when this happens.

I got my revenge on another Pershing though that took a 34% RPG-3 through its rear hull. Otherwise, we are preparing for a last stand, unable to control the Pershing menace. We are going down, but some will go with us!!!

Rokondo -> The end of War (8/15/2002 11:36:48 AM)

Well its was the hardest game I ever played :D
Draw is the final Result

If i had few more turns :)

The Soviet army sign peace with the US army.

The results of the game:

Soviet US
Men 425 512
Artillery 1 -
Soft vehicles 5 -
APCs - 9
AFVs 17 13

Score :
Soviet - 7104
US - 8204

I win more points :D:D:D

Well done my friend.
(I write this from my work - after I play our turn yesterday my computer crush and I think I have virus :( - so I can not send you the files - I will try to fix it today and to send you the files)

Scharfschütze -> This is the end... (8/15/2002 8:10:27 PM)

After weeks of vicious battles in the heart of Germany, the two fighting giants are exhausted. The Soviet Union, still ravaged by the war against Hitler, is unable to press the attack against fierce american counterattacks. In the United States, the shocking amount of casualities of the war in Europe lead to public opinion turning against a continuation of the war that is only now swinging in the U.S. favour. The counteroffensive is no longer pressed and quickly loses its momentum.

The two huge warmachines slowly grind to a halt.

Meanwhile, in early August, in another theater almost forgotten, the United States detonate new weapons of unheard of destructiveness over the japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan is forced to surrender.

The example is understood in Moscow. A peace treaty is negotiated and Germany divided into a larger western and a smaller eastern part along the current front lines.

Soviet scientists soon develop a nuclear weapon themselves, and an era which will be called the "Cold War" sets in...

I received a thorough drubbing in this one. Rokondo took all the mid-map objectives, only my rear VHs are still under my control. Of the two companies of Guards Infantry I deployed, only a reinforced platoon remains. The mighty IS-3 tanks are burning, as are all the powerful ISU-122s tank destroyers except for two, one with its main gun shot out. The T-44 and T-34 tanks are fiercely aflame also.

I felt like surrendering about ten turns ago, when very few Pershings had been destroyed and many of my tanks were dead. But something kept me from bugging out and so i fought until the bitter end, wearing the enemy down. The american losses began mounting, which further encouraged me. But the end was coming anyways. The line was no more, and everyone (those that still lived, that is) was retreating towards the rear VHs in the town for a final stand. but with just one fresh platoon and those badly mauled survivors, I wouldnt have lasted long.

Congratulations, Rokondo, you beat me!

I cant wait for the rematch...:D

Rokondo is truly a very skillful player, World Cup opponents take care:cool:

When I am home I will check for viruses and post some screenshots when you mail me your password, Sir.;)
