Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/8/2010 3:16:34 PM)

I also bombed some Factories while waiting for the main ground battle

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/8/2010 3:19:02 PM)

here is my Rail Net in the north, just changed over 4 more hexes, the supply to the City front will be good, but the flank is very poor (besides all the swamps !)

that is also as far as AGN got, only 29,500 losses inflicted this time around (but, if I can hold, I got 10 Divs trapped for next turn)

and then my armor should be rested and stocked up

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/8/2010 3:19:50 PM)

(6 are stuck, the other 4 could be freed with out much trouble, other then getting other troops killed off)

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/8/2010 3:21:31 PM)

not a good start for Balck

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/8/2010 5:02:14 PM)

wiking62 -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/8/2010 8:58:05 PM)

Thanks for all the great and informative screenshots Sarge. All these details just make the game even better.

ComradeP -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/8/2010 10:02:48 PM)

Thanks for the screenshots Hard Sarge.

Is the "morale" number some sort of modifier to the morale of the forces under his command, or does it strictly effect personal performance?

figured I show some shots from which the details are coming from

up North, think this is the biggest battle I have had so far

8 German Inf Divs vs 3 SU Rifle Divs (along with a Tank Div and another Rifle Div, plus cycle Reg and a gun Reg, wasn't expecting them !)

I also got some decent Air support, the SU try to add in some of there own, but...

Hi Sarge
Keep up the good work with the ss
What are the colour codes for the various air missions?

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 1:39:31 PM)

the rules are being written, so maybe the "writer" will see and comment, as I got to go by what I remember, so on a lot of this, I may forget the real idea, and just go off of what I remember

Morale for a Leader, IIRC, any is good, but the higher the more it helps, like Init, you got dies rolls, all the way up and down the command chain (so say something like Init, you got Corps, Army , Army Group, and then High Command, so if the first one misses, the next one may help, as it gets higher, the chance is worse, but it could still make a roll, and help out, again, the others may be able to give better details)

colors and lines

hmmmm, I know off hand, what is the form up field and what is shown flying to the form up field, not sure any more how the rest of it works or shows :(

okay, new version is out, so I got to restart what I was taking my shots from (a shame, I think that was one of my better starts, I was cutting off Leningrad, had Smolisk, had taken Kiev and Odessa, had reformed my Panzer groups in the center, caught up to my Panzers in the south, and it was middle of July)

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 1:52:47 PM)

first turn air war, is a lot of fun (for the German)

here is my first raid

some 110s cover a raid on a small Russian airfield

[image]local://upfiles/1438/A3954AD90FDB471AB7D3C2485A06403D.jpg[/image]

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 1:53:39 PM)

from the info Docs, here some info from the battle

and how I would break it down, knowing what I seen

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 1:54:52 PM)

II./ZG 26

claims 10 kills from that raid, the 110 is not a sitting down in the East

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 2:13:27 PM)

okay, opening moves, a very fine line, you need some fighters in the air, but don't have much range, if you move, you cut down on how much they can fly, and not really any place for them to move to

so, if you start the ground war, to gain some space, you also, use up your bombers and fighters with ground support duties

so, I was able to move one of my fighter fields about 3 hexes forward, and they can now help support my airfields raids

I had been lucky so far, with my 110 coverage, the SU didn't really put up too many fighters

so, I gambled and guessed where I thought the SU would get some planes into the air

guessed right

right now, I am controlling my missions (Shift Right Click on the target, brings up the units that can fly the mission, just right click, lets the AI pick the forces, or you can just click at the top, on AI, and let the AI run all of the airfield attack missions)

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 2:14:23 PM)

ahhh, 118 fighters in the air, my boys are going to enjoy this

[image]local://upfiles/1438/723EEBDF20FC483D85AAB2432977A3AB.jpg[/image]

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 2:16:15 PM)

my loss was a 110 that a biplane shot down !

fighters clean the skies and the bombers took out those sitting on the ground

and, looks like my 110s are getting greedy !!!

[image]local://upfiles/1438/0B11BF1B21E247E28962973E4D92CB21.jpg[/image]

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 2:32:04 PM)

here is one of the Prime targets

hassle is, most times you will pull mainly ground attack planes for the job, which they suffer to Flak, and you want them for the ground attack part !!!

so, I pick a field father away from the front and get some of my tac bombers instead (one hassle with the AI control, it will use up all of your Ground attack planes)

but as you see, some 490 total planes sitting here

[image]local://upfiles/1438/F596756F31334D12AC9EC54A09E8F81C.jpg[/image]

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 2:33:58 PM)

dang, my 110s are greedy, they won't let my real fighters get a chance !

first raid cleaned house

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 2:35:54 PM)

2nd raid (under the battle icon, top of message area, you see the << >>, click on that if it shows to move between the battles)

[image]local://upfiles/1438/15C78EEB3C344F48AD6C951946D42308.jpg[/image]

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 2:50:55 PM)

and now, I can leave the field for later, if I have mission left to fly, or just wait for the over run (ready planes will fly away, damaged planes will get, well, overran)

for me, and from what I can tell from intel, if field has lots of fighters, then I send fighters, and light bombers, if field has bombers, I go heavy with the bombers (fighters will be in the air, bombers will be on the ground)

and just in case, when I test, I play with FOW off, I want to watch and see what the AI is doing, it may not be fair, or it may give me a bit of a edge, but, who cares how many games I win or lose during testing, I want to see what is going on

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 6:18:41 PM)

trying a different idea for my opening attacks

trying for a big pocket, caught em

by one hex !!!

first turn, took Riga, on the flanks of Minsk, south, looks like a screw up, I was setting up for a major battle/pocket, the Russians ran away

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 6:19:21 PM)

and the pocket

ComradeP -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 6:34:14 PM)

If that Rifle division near Vilnius can move 6 hexes to the Southwest, 5 of which over friendly terrain, the pocket will have a link to the rest of the front again.

well, you know what they say, the big question is, IF

they didn't get the chance

nice pocket, 250,000 men, almost 2400 Tanks

wmcalpine -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 6:59:25 PM)

Can you give us an idea how many men and how much material is in this huge pocket?

You answered the question while I was posting. Very nice pocket

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 7:00:36 PM)

31 Divs, hmmmm, still don't like the overall idea

[image]local://upfiles/1438/C7F2767DB4964FB7A373C0F30957D75D.jpg[/image]

ComradeP -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 7:41:10 PM)

How did the commander of 6th Cavalry Corps get involved in a fight with the Soviet defending forces described as only the 204th Motorized Division?

Did the Soviets move him to a different formation on turn 1? I have a source saying a man with the same name and rank was commander of VI Mechanized Corps (4th, 7th Tank and 29 Motorized/Mechanized Rifle Divisions, all died the pocket).

not all of the Rifle Divs were full strength, but most of the Tank Divs were over

but, in the long run, I am way behind the curve. the AI already has it's 2nd line set, and I am not really even close to it, but the south will not a delay, they ran away

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 8:12:33 PM)

look at the snapshot, you will see the hex under attack shows 3 units there, so at least one of them is a HQ, maybe two, the HQ was overran during the battle (HQ don't show up in the combat message)

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 8:24:05 PM)

ahhh, think I screwed the pouch in the south, but got a nice come back

don't really like leaving the enemy behind me, but, it has good points

Hard Sarge -> RE: Detailed combat reporting (4/9/2010 8:45:37 PM)

26 Divs (36 units) 233720 men, and 2136 Tanks

and it is way past my bed time, got to go to work in a few, so will finish the turn in the morning
