I locked in some hab research, and it never completed.

Or so I thought.

I went to the research screen and saw that the lock never lifted and I was just flying through the hab research items, but with no notification whenever anything completed, and no ability to turn the crash lock off or switch it somewhere else.

Been years now and I can't get off of hab research, can't research anything else.

Could you please upload a save file for us?

This seems to happen if you're researching a tech you already have, such as a racial special, or one you acquire by trading while performing the research: The result is that the crash research locks up forever and never terminates.

This happened to me too with the Drayut who gets the special hyperdrive. I didn't save that time but I was able to recreate it easily. Save uploaded in case you want another one.

I crash researched the Equinox HyperDrive EQ-700 but didn't get any info that it was done when the progress bar filled up and the next hyperdrive started researching. The Equinox is available in the ship design editor. Trying to crash research another field has no effect, you get the yes/no prompt and the display changes like it works but when you exit and reenter the research screen the crash research is back on the hyperdrive and the crash research cost from the other field is never deducted.

Edit: I didnt see the Equinox in the design screen the first time I looked but the second time it was there. Maybe I just missed it the first time or it appeared in the time that passed between the two checks...

Honestly, the Dhayut shouldn't even HAVE a hyperdrive research field, since they already are maxed in it, and any research in that field is completely wasted as you will never use anything other than the drive they get to start, because it is the final drive. In fact, an interesting quirk occurs if you acquire a racial tech from another race: Your research in that particular field becomes instantly maxed out, so if you get the NovaCore by trading for it, you will also automatically receive for free all the other reactors, even if the people you got it from don't have it themselves.
