Event log needs better filter

Ok the event log becomes critical in a game like this especially since I can look up things like my research history. Sorting through the 1000's of msg's is getting ridiculous though and the only filter is non-miltary it needs about 10 more filters, or heck just show me the table and give me a sql command line option :)
