Bottom pic is a  Skoda 100mm Model 1916, in Italian service (Whatever they called it, *Italian words* 100/17 modelo 16 :) ).  Taken in Albania or Greece maybe?

*Italian words* would be "Obice da " (i.e. Howitzer) but I think the photo is from a "Cannone da 75/27 modello 06" , a license built Krupp Kanone M 1906

Thanks Brady for the thread, hope it returns soon. One of the best threads that I have seen in several Internet forums for the information it provides plus it shows the amount of knowledge there is on these forums. Some of the users on these forums as shown in your thread can identify a pilot by a picture and give you his story. Very impressive people ! Thank you all !

mg62 -> RE: Name This!...(Will Return) (4/16/2010 11:55:47 AM)

I thnk Steve did his own stunts.  I know I would not want to jump a motorcyle into barbed wire.

Also I agree the Sand Pebbles with Steve McQueen and Candice Bergan was a great movie.

I had a Triumph Tiger 500, 1968 model, and I'm pretty sure from this angle, that bike looks like an older model Triumph..The Germans did not have them, IIRC, as they used BMW's and Stehr Daimler Puch models.

EDIT:Just found this pic, caption said it was a 1962 Triumph..

Shark7 -> RE: Name This!...(Will Return) (4/17/2010 3:59:15 PM)

While that motorcycle certainly isn't the real thing, it is mocked up to look like a Zundapp KS750 or BMW R75 (BMW built KS750) which were the two main motorcycles used by the Germans during World War 2.

morganbj -> RE: Name This!...(Will Return) (4/18/2010 4:51:17 AM)

My cavalry troop used to maneuver over the same ground as was in those cycle chase seens. My tank platoon occupied a hill next to a farmhouse one time that was in the background in one of the scenes, albeit a few years afterwrds (7, I think). A very beautiful part of the world. Ah, the memories, and the mamaries, too. Must be something in the water.
