knilli -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 10:16:32 AM)

nice fotos, do you have more? [:D]

JudgeDredd -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 12:03:37 PM)

That Panther is soooooooooooooooooooo sexy!

Zakhal -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 2:20:02 PM)

Whats that weird looking churchill on the second photo?

JudgeDredd -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 2:29:45 PM)

A normal Churchill with the turret facing backwards I think

sterckxe -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 3:39:58 PM)

So it could shoot backwards while running away from the Panther ?

Makes sense [;)]

The gun it carries is over 75mm and the barrel looks kinda long for mortar. There was like one churchill with big mortar atleast as a weapon iirc.

JudgeDredd -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 5:08:52 PM)

Yes there was - this

[image]local://upfiles/10786/74A4CD1E61CF4C39839E9EE5B9ADA636.jpg[/image]
or this...
[image]local://upfiles/10786/6587016DC6494BA79C03D38066BFF40F.jpg[/image]

both massively different guns to the one above though

JudgeDredd -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 5:12:25 PM)

I agree the barrel does look a bit big for 75mm, but I can't find anything which says they carried a bigger gun than that...maybe just the camera angle?

JudgeDredd -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 5:14:44 PM)

Although, according to wiki

quote:

Churchill Mk V (241)
A Churchill III / IV which was equipped with a close support 95 mm howitzer in place of the main gun (47 rounds).

or this...
quote:

Churchill Mk VIII
A Churchill VII which replaced the main gun with a 95 mm howitzer (47 rounds).

Though looking at pictures of these two variants on the net - they don't look like the one above.

morvwilson -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 5:18:35 PM)

I think you are right, turret is facing backwards, but that one in particular has not been restored yet.
And yes, I have more.

Awesome collection!!! Thanks for sharing pictures.. I would love to see some of those vehicles in person!!!..

The Churchill Avre (big Mortar) was awesome in the second Close Combat - Bridge to Far?... Awesome for devastating buildings/infantry!

D.Ilse -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 10:16:38 PM)

Someone went to the Littlefield collection.[:'(]

Btw, that Panther is a fully running restoration.[8D]

sadly Littlefield passed on before seeing the complete restoration. I am sure he would be pleased with it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGq6G-5ouA0&feature=related

running in daylight..better conditions.

JudgeDredd -> RE: Tank Museum (4/20/2010 11:44:02 PM)

WOW! The Panther was such a damn sexy killing machine!

thegreatwent -> RE: Tank Museum (4/22/2010 3:32:52 AM)
