Okim -> Old bugs in 1.04 (4/20/2010 9:30:53 PM)

Hi.

I have just started a new game under 1.04 beta and the first thing i`ve noticed was an old bug where mining stations were not traveling with the planet/moon.

Here is a shot of a stationary mining station that was build by a constructor over a vulcanic moon. The moon has traveled quite far on its orbit, but the base sits tightly on one spot and does not move at all.

I can upload a save in case you need it.

We're aware of this one and we've seen it after it happens, but we have not yet pinned down the cause. If you find a save where you can actually see a base that's attached to a planet or moon as it "detaches" or reproduce the construction of a "detached" base, please upload it.

I found an autosave game few seconds prior completetion of this mine. After it is completed the mine detaches from the moon.

It seems that a constructor is the reason of this problem as IT actually not following the construction site position while the mine that is being built sits where it should. Just right after i get a message that the mine is ready the moon slowly start to float from the mine :)

Here is the save: http://www.okim.nickersonm.com/dw/detachable-mine-bug.dwg

The game was resaved with the game screen showing the troublesome mine and constructor a second or two before finishing it.

P.S.: on the second thought i think that i recall icedentally aborting this construction ship`s orders (by miss-right-clicking while trying to quee its further missions) and ordering it to 'repair' that station (the default option for the constructor with hammer cursor) after that.

I have already posted steps to reproduce the behavior, then linked there repeatedly. It has to do with queueing orders for construction of Mining Stations (probably other construction projects as well) to a constructor while it is busy building a station.

These are detailed steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • Start new game.
  • Order both starting constructors to build Mining Stations.
  • Wait until both are busy building at the same time.
  • Open Expansion Planner and order construction of a number of Mining Stations by 'nearest constructor' there.
  • Each constructor which has received a queued order for a project will now have detached itself from its build site. The stations under construction still appear attached to their respective planet, but this won't last.

My original report can be found here (and no, it was not an april fool's).

There are reports that a right click order for a queued construction project also reproduces the problem.

I want this fixed badly. It makes using the Expansion Planner to order construction projects a gamble.

Thanks very much for that savegame and that detailed description Okim and sbach2o. Hopefully we can finally knock this one on the head.
