murteas -> Increased Font Size? (4/21/2010 5:38:52 PM)

Has anyone figured out how to adjust the font in game? I am one of those with a high resolution but not giant monitor, so I am having a hard time reading some of the text, maybe if I could increase the font size, it might help.

any ideas?

Agreed.

There appears to be an antialiasing artifact that makes the 'joins' (like H, there would be 2 joins there) in letters thinner, making the text hard to read.

Suggestions:

Make the text ever so slightly bigger.  I would settle for less game screen real estate if I could read the text while sitting back in my chair.

Change the scrolling text color (all text color in the main screen, for that matter) to white instead of grey/white.  It goes to white when saving the game so I know it's possible.

Get rid of the picture of the ship behind the text in the lower left hand corner.  It adds nothing, and makes the text harder to read because the text background is not a solid color.

That is not currently something open for modding. =(

Ok.   thanks for the replies.   I don't mind getting my hands dirty and looking through the resources of the game, I just have to find the time.   I'll see what I can find, or just wait patiently. :)

Increased font size has been mentioned quite early on in the master wishlist and has already been placed in the compilation. However your post actually made me review the possibility of having variable font sizes....hmmm

shanicus -> RE: Increased Font Size? (4/24/2010 4:26:05 AM)

Yes, variable Font sizes!!!

That would be great!

How about moving and adjusting pop up (and other) windows while we are at it?

I do not know if this is available on other operating systems but windows 7 has magnifier that does help and runs while playing the game.

hope this helps and again it does work....

Great Idea Pipewrench.  I'll try that tonight.   Might help until I can figure out how to increase font size.

To add some more to this what I do is the following..

Start magnifier

start
all programs
accessories
ease of access
magnifier

small window will appear
if you press - or + zoom level will be applied to full screen
if you pull down on the view tab you can select lens ( I use this)

A box appears which gives you your magnifier
to set zoom level
press the logo key (left of the alt key) and hit + or -
to set how much of the screen you want the magnifier to use hit ctrl+alt+R and now move the mouse to resize the viewer and click to accept.

now your ready to go so start the game and the magnifier becomes the mouse cursor . Setting it at no zoom (logo) + "-" will give you no zoom in the area and be less intrusive to the eyes but if you need a quick zoom just hit (logo) + "+" and poof you have a zoom in where your cursor is.

sorry I do not know how to make the logo character but again it is at the bottom and to the left of the alt key.

hope this helps

Works like a charm for me.    I will keep looking for font size modifications, but this makes my life a lot better.

Thank you very much!!!
