Darthcaboose -> Part-Review, Part-AAR: My thoughts on Distant Worlds (4/26/2010 7:27:16 PM)

Hey everyone,

I've been playing some huge galaxy games of Distant Worlds recently but have always felt that doing an AAR on a huge game'd be fairly difficult and time consuming to do. As such, I finally decided to get some of them creative juices flowing and construct a mini AAR instead. I'm playing as the Kiaden within the Kiaden Collective against one unknown foe for this small 100-star system AAR, and will be posting more updates as I progress further in the game. It's only the very start (and I'm still figuring out how to take good screenshots that don't miss out on too much detail), but I hope that'll change soon!

My blog, On the Optimization of Electronic Play, is about PC gaming in general, though I've definitely found room in my heart for some Distant Worlds love!

Alright, an intro is all good and fun, but let's get some proper details going! Here's a post with my setup as well as a description of my homeworld and a few events that have happened since my current point.

On Distant Worlds: #1. The Start of the Glorious Kiadian Collective!

Please feel free to leave any comments here or on the site if you have any questions about the playthrough or want to 'nudge' me in the right direction for this AAR!

Part 2 is now up. With the basics down, we now turn to what the scouts have found since the start of the game.

On Distant Worlds: #2. Kiadians don't see exploration as a 'bold' thing to do...

Interesting, thanks for writing this!
