JosEPhII -> World Destroyer Project and Game Lock up (5/2/2010 9:53:27 PM)

Current 1.0.4.4 game has reached the year 2793. I found the World Destroyer Project and using one of my constructors finished building the Planet Destroyer Capital ship. I have yet to deploy it.

But... since finishing it's construction my game has locked up 3 times. I can continue from the Autosaves but inevitably the game will lock up. And the lockups are seemingly random.

So my question is this,"has anyone else had this experience with this?" Has this been reported as a "bug". Should I upload the save?

My Computer specs are:
Dual Core E7400 Wolfdale CPU
Gigabyte EP45-UD3R Sata Dual Bios Mobo
8GB of 1066Mhz DDR2 Ram
ATI Radeon HD 4650 vid card with 512MB of DDR2 ram
500GB HD Blue Caviar Western Digital
OS is Win XP Pro x64
I built this computer in March of 2009.

Yes, please upload the save. We thought we'd fixed all the World Destroyer-related issues, but perhaps we missed one.

I have been having random freezes too that I have to force close the game. No world destroyer in mine though.
It is random so I don't know what is causing it.

But on another note, I got a message saying that I should investigate an area and when I sent an exploration ship I found a cruiser and frigate that I claimed. But the kicker is, an AI empire had a base (I assume he claimed it) in the immediate area. Almost within shooting distance.

So why didn't this AI claim the cruiser and frigate too? It was in the middle of his empire to boot.

Also, payed off pirates to quit attacking my mining stations, but they just kept on going until I destroyed them. They had 12 good ships guarding their base, which itself had a decent firepower. [X(]

I would but I can't decipher the upload link in the Tech support subforum. I can't make contact with beta.matrixgames.com. Sorry uploading is not something I normally do so I'm a bit ignorant.

The file is 21MB .rar'ed .

it is not a website you open in your browser... it is an ftp server.
you need to use a program such as http://filezilla-project.org/ which is free and open source. make sure you get the CLIENT not the server... (server is what matrix is running, you connect to it with a client).
here is a toturial on how to use it, if there is more you don't understand, just ask: http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/FileZilla_Client_Tutorial_(en)

Before uploading, take your savegame, a text document with a description of the problem and a link to this thread (You can use word, notepad, whatever), your dxdiag file and whatever else you think is relevant (sometimes I include screenshots for example), zip them all together to get one single file with all that stuff, and then name that zip with your forum nickname and a date. For this problem for example I would name it: "JosEPh_II may 3rd 2010 world annihilator crash.zip"

here are instructions for getting dxdiag file http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2413997

It is all a LOT simpler then I am making it sound... :)
