Swayin -> cannot withdraw carrier air groups (5/5/2010 7:06:17 AM)

It's Jan. 1943, and I need to withdraw my VS-series flight groups from my USN fleet carriers. Despite the fact that they are overdue, the "withdraw" option is grayed out and I get the "can't disband carrier flight groups" message, so I transfer them to a land base, Tulagi, with tons of supply, air support, etc. I then hit "withdraw," it asks me the customary questions about returning planes and pilots to the pools, and then it acts as if the transaction has been completed, but the groups never withdraw. they just sit in Tulagi day after day, costing me 77 PPs per turn (I'm now down to zero).

Ideas?

Is the VBF group it comes back as on the map?

Do they have pilots equal to number of maximum planes.

No, VBF group doesn't come back intil 1945 - and yes, 18 pilots, 15 planes

it's funny because all of mine automatically disbanded when the carriers were in port. I did nothing and the next day they were gone and the VB squadrons were at 36 strength. Except for VS-71. It stayed at 18 while VS-72 disappeared. Now the carrier is straming with half a DB squadron and I have no idea how to enlarge it.

Okay a save probably needs to be posted here for a definitive answer

Tried sending to Sydney to withdraw - no dice there either. I also noticed that every time I try and withdraw one of these groups, it shows up in the Ops Report for the previous day - "VS 3 air crews and planes withdrawing", etc. If I try again, that same message appears again.

Michael - i'll post a save when I get home tonight, thanks much in advance.

Yep this is a known issue that is fixed in the next patch.
The code is checking the new returning group (VBF) and sees that it is on a ship that is still on the map.
The issue is that the group is inactive (delay 9999) but code is not currently checking that.
Funny thing is that it does not always behave the same way in this situation.
Sometimes you can get around the issue if the ship is withdraw, but not in this case.
Updated save

Thanks you *so* much, michael. That did the trick for three of the groups, but VS-8 just appeared in Cairns ... can you tell me what you did so I can nix them as well? they're not withdrawing either.

VERY happy to once again be generating positive PP, thanks to you!!!!

Apart from getting the group killed off, you would need to wait for patch.

Trying to withdraw each day will reset the date to the current date, but that will still mean that is overdue though.
