Zenchess -> Question about taxing independent colonies (5/7/2010 7:10:40 AM)

Hi. I colonized an independent planet with population of 750million. I set the tax rate to 30% and the tax revenue as indicated on the colony screen was only 2. However my home planet which is taxed at around 23% or so generates something like 23-28 credits of tax. Do independent populations not get taxed? It seems like only the 10m human settlers that I colonized there are paying tax.

Another question I have is what is GDP. On the new planet it says that this new planet comprises about 9% of my total GDP.

I apologize if this was an obvious answer that I could have found in the galactopedia/manual. My galactopedia doesn't work because of the IE bug issue.

That happened to me too, in some sort of game i was going to colonize a Continental Moon and there were only Atuuks, Later the only ones that paid me where my colonists. And the Atuuks seemed not to pay anything to me.

Independent colonies generally have crappy development levels, so the amount of taxes you get out of them tends to be crap until it develops more.
