Exactly!

Too many programs running in the background eats up Memory and CPU usage. Close any app on the task bar that is not being used.

I work for an ISP provider and many trouble calls I go to the customer has the task bar filled with open apps and they claim my service is slow. I close 90% of their apps do a speed check and guess what? Their speeds and connection time improve dramatically. There is Absolutely no need for Multiple apps running in the background when most of them are only rarely used. You can only chat to so many ppl at once. [8|]

I used to work tech support in college, so so very true!

Try doing IT for a business. If it isn't 400 unnecessary apps running in the background, its the viruses they get opening personal emails at work. It's a nightmare...not uncommon to have to wipe and reload a couple of computers a month...management should put some policies in place.

I agree with all those folks say the tech support is awesome.

I had to deal with that before... I was in a mid sized business where I became the de-facto IT...
Well, someone got a virus, and the virus was capable of spreading itself to any XP machine (they were all using XP at the time) on the LAN, instantly. No anti virus was capable of doing anything about it either...
I had to unplug all computers then manually purge each one. (that was actually surprisingly easy for that virus)... I imagine how horrible it would have been if it was a 400 computer network instead of 10 PCs and 10 Macs

Interesting -> RE: Distant Worlds Updated Again! (8/6/2010 3:53:09 PM)

I will start playing the game again with this update.

Im still pissed off with the blatant lie about how big the universe is and that we cant mod it to make it bigger.

Well, I find 1400(IIRC) is very big, and, I think, never seen before (or not by me). If it feels small to you, I think Matrix really finds it huge, and has reasons to, so it is not a lie, as lying is to say what you think to be false.

BigWolfChris -> RE: Distant Worlds Updated Again! (8/6/2010 11:07:25 PM)

The size of the galaxy is quite small
The only thing that changes is the amount of stars inside it, not the size itself

Guys, this is the 1.0.4.9 update thread from a few months ago. Did you mean to post in the 1.0.6 thread?

sbach2o -> RE: Distant Worlds Updated Again! (8/9/2010 7:53:25 AM)

Maybe part of the problem is this thread is stickied?

ductape -> RE: Distant Worlds Updated Again! (9/20/2010 4:42:39 AM)

DAMMIT! I WAS SO EXCITED THERE WAS AN ACTUAL UPDATE!

Shark7 -> RE: Distant Worlds Updated Again! (9/20/2010 2:23:31 PM)

Good grief, a gold farmer. Too bad we can't just have a program to automatically wipe them. [:@]
