Does AI even colonize? I started with 1 colony and the opponent AI didn't build a single colony while I caught up to 20 colonies. this game is strange. unchallengeable AI sucks.

It does, but you are not the first to notice AIs not colonizing at all. It seems to me that the game has a lot of parameters that make for very different gameplay.

Hmm, this hasnt been my experience, but sometimes it seems to get off to a slow start on initial colonization.
