Cap Mandrake -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 7:16:56 PM)

Without the steroids and growth hormone and other such "vitamins", Maradona looks like a middle-aged sausage salesman.

Andy Mac -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 7:55:44 PM)

I dont know how much more of these bloody horns I can take I want to listen to the commentary and hear the fans the horns are ruining the game for me for god sake someone ban them quick from all games not involving south africa

Terminus -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 8:09:33 PM)

My thoughts exactly, Andy.

Terminus -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 8:12:32 PM)

America draws even with England...

Andy Mac -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 8:14:32 PM)

Yup what a plonker in goal

Terminus -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 8:15:41 PM)

I believe the polite term is "dropped a clanger"...[:D]

I think it was the 'vitamins' that got him into that state [:D]

TulliusDetritus -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 8:22:22 PM)

Green [sm=crazy.gif]

Now I understand why there has always been a "debate" over English Goalkeepers [:D]

They're less annoying than Mark Lawrenson's commentry* at least [;)]

*I'm aware he's not commentating tonight.

tocaff -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 8:25:26 PM)

A goal is a goal is a goal...and yes, England's keeper looks less than world class.

I have been away for a bit.. and yes those "horns" drive me nuts!'

Whoever decieded to let people have them at the stadium should be forced to listen to 24/7 next 300 days. I think he/she would go insame.

Here is an good example how "pissed" people are..

http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/FIFA-BAN-THE-ANNOYING-VUVUZELA-HORN-FROM-THE-SOUTH-AFRICA-WORLD-CUP-/124891457531066?v=wall

I think this has member joining in every second now and one cannot argue with that.

Other than.. a bit too defensive matches so far. South Korea though was an pleasant suprise [:)]

...now If I just could get off that BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZz sound...

Miller -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 9:41:13 PM)

Well done the US, well worth a point despite the horrible keeper error for their goal. As usual the English media build the team up as world beaters when we clearly are not. Lets hope we both get through to the next round.

Terminus -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 9:55:57 PM)

Well, I just got reinforced in my conviction to watch no other World Cup matches. Those horns are just too damn annoying.[:@]

Well, turn the sound off. The problem with using another source for the audio (radio for example) is that there is always some desynchronisation. So a team is attacking and seconds before they score you hear: GOAAAAAL! [:D]

If you love footie as I do think about this: a World Cup every 4 years [8|]

topeverest -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 10:04:05 PM)

From this yakee's point of view, England didnt bring their A game. I dont think its fair to blame just their keeper. Lots of squandered quality opportunities over and above those stopped by USA defenders. That performance wont get England to the semi's. USA wasnt too impressive either, but I had lower expectations of them. I'll take the draw! maybe we do make round of 16...

So far, I must say I havent seen the team 'to beat'

TulliusDetritus -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 10:08:08 PM)

topeverest, don't be so humble [:)] What I have seen this evening confirms what I saw in Christmas. You can be very proud of this team. They may not win this World Cup but they are a very good team. Just think how bad they were a mere few years ago. There has been a massive improvement. And your main attacker is missing (a car accident: Davis is his name?) [8D]

I don't , Tullius, I guarantee it... Off to play some CotA...[8D]

I saw some good things. Most worrisome pre-match was whether the defense could organize and sure enough, there was a breakdown early leading to England's goal. But they solidified and played pretty good the rest of the match. England is a strong side and they are going to get their shots, so I don't fault the D on that so much.

Well I'll certainly be recording the Algeria-Slovenia match in the am tomorrow for later perusal. [:'(]

The loss of Singapore was one thing, but this was a bit hard to stomach. Ugh.....!

It's just One Of Those Things(tm), even though Green will be slaughtered like the Romans at Cannae over the next few days.

Hope it serves as a wake up. We were flat. I believe he loses the shirt for the next match. The Argies looked good today.

Terminus -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 11:22:09 PM)

Even though Maradona did his usual impression of a rat on Rohypnol at the post-match press conference...

BTW, does England have a better second choice for keeper? Might want to consider that before benching Green...

Maradona is an ass. However, his beard looked great. Best facial hair in the tournament, must have taken hours.
Don't get much quality analysis on my side of the pond but for keeper I am quite comfortable with Manchester City's Joe Hart. Guess I need to calm down first and not let the beer speak.

JeffroK -> RE: OT World Cup 2010 South Africa (6/12/2010 11:41:32 PM)

The ROK looked good, the Greeks like they were being paid in Drahma.

The Argies did well, if not for the Nigerian goalie would have won by a lot more.

England played like England, best league in the world unable to produce a team of world beaters.
They have to limit the number of foreigners playing in the EPL so that their own players get a chance to develop.
The USA played well, took their chance an were lucky it slipped through, under, was completely missed the Goalie. Their Goalie also mad a number of great saves, a problem in that the defence allowed the shots on goal.

A problem for some teams, like the USA & Aus, is that we dont get a lot of chance to play as a team and it takes a few games to get into gear, if you last that long.
