MajFrankBurns -> RE: "The Perfect Game" (6/12/2010 10:01:53 PM)

Soccer is so boring 1:1 and how many hours watching that? Might as well watch the grass grow...oh wait there is grass out there isn't there? How much do people pay to watch grown men kick a little ball around too and fro for 3 hours+ in a 1:1 tie? They do serve beer there right? [:'(]

Bamilus -> RE: "The Perfect Game" (6/12/2010 10:15:16 PM)

Some English fans (on other forums) are doing serious damage control right now. After predicting a US loss of 9-0 and talking trash they are now using the defense "BUT....YOU DIDN'T WIN. LOL!!!"

Haha. It was a good game for both teams. Glad to see some English posters giving respect where respect is due.

andym -> RE: "The Perfect Game" (6/12/2010 10:18:21 PM)

Oh Dear,looks like i will have to suffer more of this crap untill we get kicked out.My DVD player has never been so busy!LOL

Well done USA!(mind you they dont stand much chance against our rugby team.....................................yet!)

Titanwarrior89 -> RE: "The Perfect Game" (6/13/2010 12:05:04 AM)

I am mainly a college football fan(american) but soccer interests me. I enjoyed the game. What I like is that you can go to the bathroom/kitchen and miss nothing of the game or you may have missed everything.[;)][:)]

Kubel -> RE: "The Perfect Game" (6/13/2010 12:24:21 AM)

Soccer would be much more interesting if they would combine it with paintball or medieval tournament combat.

Its so boring thats why its the most popular spectator sport is the world.Baseball is the most boring sport ever.Unless you are playing,but watching it?

PunkReaper -> RE: "The Perfect Game" (6/13/2010 5:05:07 PM)

As in any sport some games can be boring, but the "beautiful game" is the greatest sporting show on earth....

Bamilus -> RE: "The Perfect Game" (6/13/2010 5:15:59 PM)

I find soccer a bit too slow paced for me. Same with baseball. I am still trying to watch and enjoy the World Cup, however. I just watched Serbia vs. Ghana, which, as far as soccer goes, was a pretty boring game. Regardless, the World Cup is a great thing for sports and for the world. I love the competition and the nationalism for every country. Soccer is getting bigger and bigger everyday in America. 30 years ago very few people in the USA played soccer. Now in my generation almost every child plays soccer and many more continue to play throughout high school and college. I expect the US to get stronger and stronger each year as soccer gets more popular here.

Titanwarrior89 -> RE: "The Perfect Game" (6/13/2010 6:33:38 PM)

I enjoy it but don't understand the rules. Whats the yellow card for? A foul I think.

Yellow cards are a warning for bad behaviour... get 2 in one game and you are sent off the pitch for the rest of the game and banned from the next game. If the foul was bad enough then you get a red card and are sent off the pitch and will have a further ban from future games.....

That's what we Europeans are afraid. A combination of a large population and plenty of money could easily make the USA the greatest team in the world. Hopefully the majority of you will find it boring and stick to rounders....[;)]

I swear, sometimes I think I'm the only American that can't stand American sports...

Everyone I know finds soccer boring, and even my best friend only cares about about American football and Ice Hockey. Plus the word "soccer" sounds stupid anyway, it should be called football here in America.

John Cleese explaining it.....
Soccer - Football?

I always thought "soccer" was an American word to distinguish it from their style of football. Alas, it's an English invention - an abbreviation of the word "Association" as in Association Football (Britain's term to distinguish it from the original Rugby Football - amongst others).

wodin -> RE: "The Perfect Game" (6/13/2010 10:29:39 PM)

What is the Pitch? The playing field and if so why is it called the pitch?

Fred98 -> RE: "The Perfect Game" (6/14/2010 12:50:44 AM)

"The Pitch" is a phrase connected with cricket and then applied to other sports. BTW we look forward to regaining the Ashes !

We are all quite shocked.

The Bavarian beer bars across the country all had a good time!

I think I have a problem...as I get older the more I get into all things Germanic....I even support them in the Football....then again I always wanted to be the Germans in playing Army at school when I was a nipper...I even had a badge with the German Cross on With Got Mit Uns written underneath....
