bigred -> RE: RE:11jun44 (3/14/2013 4:37:40 AM)

This is a look at the surviving planes that landed at allied held Car Nicobar. All the undamaged frames will be off the island w/ pilots this turn...note the experience level of my pilots.
CVL TF had a CAP setting of 50%
CVE TF following had a CAP setting of 10% which is a brain fart on my part.

I am pleased the air to air losses are close to even for both sides...considering allied fly the FM1/2.

bigred -> RE: RE:11jun44 (3/19/2013 8:36:58 PM)

I was surprised by FatR at umboi Island. he decided to attack w/ his CA TFs into Umboi and Finch and cover the Raid w/ Jap army air. He did alot of Damage but this knife cut both ways.

bigred -> RE: RE:25jun44 (3/30/2013 12:11:27 AM)

This turn is noted for 4 paradrops for future recon locations. I may be premature. Will watch FatR response. 11th airborne div is in reserve..note in last screenprint the para locations and the movement of a support TF away from Rabaul.

I am closely watching the bombardment results at Moulmein...

The counter punch by FatR from my air drops has begun.

I needed more prep bombardment at Mili and did not get it. this is the result.

another reminder to me about the importance of naval gunfire prep.

bigred -> RE: 44-6-30 (4/16/2013 1:19:39 PM)

End of June 44 brings the USN closer to Guam. Allies have established an OP at sawatol. Fletchers on forward patrol attract LBA and do take some hits but no sinkings. Also I noted the Jap bombadment attack at Moulmien took more casualties than the allies. This is monsoon season in Burma and my understanding is supply movement is cut in half.

At Truk minesweeping continues w/ some loss. DD bombardment of Truk from 15000 yds looks ineffective and I note IJ has 500+ guns on the island. I am looking to suppress the AF and maybe do an invasion...

bigred -> RE: 44-7-5 (4/28/2013 1:53:53 PM)

Hi all. Been a while since last post. Offensive in Burma is slowed by monsoon so I have shifted LBA to night bombing light industry w/ 100percent moonlight. Saidor has fallen to allies and Japs make a cross river banzai attack at Hansa bay just to get dead units rebuilt.

bigred -> RE: 44-7-6 (4/28/2013 1:57:25 PM)

Second day same turn the allies shelled Truk w/ slow BBs and got some good results. Over Manus allies have night bombed AF then switched to daylight bombing of AF and troops. Note the increased effect of allied ground troop bombardment from previous post up thread. Plans at Manus will be to push the Japs into the Jungle so they can not reorganize. If I surround and kill then they will rebuild.

bigred -> RE: 44-7-10 (5/9/2013 4:10:27 PM)

Manus falls, range 16 to Truk w/ a level 6 AF.

bigred -> RE: 44-7-15 (5/13/2013 3:03:22 PM)

The KB and allied fleet are dancing at Truk...below is a series of 4 post to describe this 2 day turn. Not mentions is the allied LBA bombing of truk from Ponape w/ CVE LRCAP.
Note the 41 shell hits on the BC by my CLs.

witpqs -> RE: 44-7-15 (5/13/2013 3:15:02 PM)

White = movement land or sea
Red = no land movement & no sea movement
Green = land movement but no sea movement
Blue = sea movement but no land movement

I think the issue is that there is no base for them to trace a retreat path toward, so they have no retreat path and therefore don't retreat.
