We've got our first iPad game in submission with Apple at the moment. If all goes well Egypt Engineering an Empire will relaese in a couple of weeks. It's one of the best looking strategy games on iPad.

We've also got Great Battles Medeival in final testing for Android tablets which shouls be releasing in a similar time frame.

Any plans of bringing Commander Europe at War to the iPad?

Just in from the latest GMT Games newsletter:

quote:

iPad and Computer Products

Just a quick update here, and an appeal for patience. Our call for iPad developers last time resulted in over 100 contacts from various companies and individual developers. To date, due to just a ton of work and only one of me, I have corresponded with around a dozen of those contacts. And several of those are already working out nicely, with a few new games already slated for iPad development and one new computer project, and a few other interesting possibilities.

To the rest of you who have written, please don't give up on us. I will get back to you as quickly as possible and hopefully we can agree on a game for iPad development that will work for both you and GMT.  Thanks for all your interest in working with us!

We're not looking to do CEAW on the iPad but we will be looking at all new releases and reviewing the best platforms for them.

IainMcNeil -> RE: Games For iPad (4/7/2011 6:39:22 PM)

Oooh... how often do you hear about a game releasing ahead of schedule. Egypt Engineering an Empire was due for release on April 15th.

Well you do today!

Egypt Engineering an Empire has released on iPad

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/history-egypt-hd/id428936764?mt=8&ls=1

Its one of the best looking games for the platform and probably the best historical strategy/wargame game.

Go and get a copy - and dont forget to write a review!

Fallschirmjager -> RE: Games For iPad (4/7/2011 8:07:50 PM)

I am getting an iPad 2 in the next few weeks. Is there a lite version of your games?

IainMcNeil -> RE: Games For iPad (4/8/2011 9:40:12 AM)

No not at the moment. Here are some reviews though

Reviews
90% - Armchair General "A great game for gamers who wish to step into the world of strategy gaming"

95% - PSP Minis "If you like strategy games at all, this is a must buy"
80% - Adrenaline Vault "HISTORY Egypt: Engineering an Empire is a very solid game"
80% - What Mobile "strategy enthusiasts and more casual players alike, this is imperial stuff."

Congrats. I have the iPhone version. Is the iPad version significantly different?
Bigger maps, more units? Or is it just HD graphics?

IainMcNeil -> RE: Games For iPad (4/8/2011 10:48:29 AM)

Yes it has bigger campaign maps and lots of other minor tweaks. It obviously looks much better too on the iPad - it looks really really nice!

I have an ipad and use it a lot, and I think it will be a great wargaming platform when the 27-inch model comes out...(But being the sucker I am, I will probably buy the first true wargame that comes out for the ipad).[:'(]

Just grab yourself a Microsoft Surface (if I recall the name correctly). I'm not sure how many games are in its store though [;)]

Cheers

Now that would be somethin'. But I think we would need quad-core tablets and more memory to turn up all of the effects.

I want some Lego games on the Ipad. Two games that strike me are LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon and lego harry potter hogwarts castle. Those would be a good start.

Hi Iain, I just saw this thread and bought your game via the iTunes store - only $3.99AUD. I'll give it a try soon.

As for iPad games, my wife and I regularly play Carcassonne - exceptional interface. I've also downloaded Small World and Out of the Park Baserball 2011.

I know that the boardgame publisher GMT games is hoping to port 2 of its boardgames to iPad this year - Labyrinth and Twilight Struggle. The latter will be a huge seller.

As for the good ol' PC, I'm not giving up yet. I just bought Frozen Synapse here and it's a blast. I'm hanging out for Panzer Corps in 2 weeks time!!

OMGoodness! I just saw that Days of Wonder have released Ticket to Ride on iPad! That's our favourite way to spend gaming time together. I've just downloaded that too! Great thread guys [:)][:)][:)]

Nice to be back visiting here.

Not sure if any of you have seen this as it's a post in the rather dead Lock and Load forum.

I had to post it here to as what this man has done on an IPad is amazing. First time I've ever thought about wanting one. If one man and his mate can do this then I have high hopes for Matrix game.

http://boardgamegeek.com/video/9039/conflict-of-heroes-storms-of-steel-kursk-1943/fan-made-conflict-of-heroes-on-ipad

Even the developer of CoH was impressed. I suggest Matrix go sign him up with Academy games and get it released on the IPad. It's done and complete ready for retail release!
