pmath -> Public Beta (6/23/2010 4:48:45 PM)

I just converted an AI game to the new public beta version. I haven't noticed any major bugs or gotchas yet, but as one would expect with a beta, some new features are hard to find in the manual.

Can anyone tell me the significance of setting "minimum" for bombardment fleets? If its in the manual, I couldn't find it. My first guess tested contrary to my expectation, I thought it could have to do with how close in the fleet fired from. Since a higher minimum resulted in inflicting greater bombardment damage that seems unlikely. For the bombardment fleet in question the minimum minimum was 16 and the max minimum was 33 with 33 inflecting somewhat greater damage.

Any Ideas

I'll try and help.

Bombardment setings is for range .. i.e how far offshore you want to be. I don't recall the ranges of DD's but unless there are no CD guns you want to stand off with the CA's and BB's so i'd set it over 20 as an experiment. This feature is not in the manual as its new to the upcoming patch. Check the readme ou got with the patch for more info.

Hope this helps a bit.

You can find the range of any given ship by checking the ship data screen for that ship. If a DD has a range of 18,000 and you do not want the DD to bombard, then set the bombardment range at 19.

However, probably the better method would be to research the ranges of CD guns and stay out of their range. What we need it for someone to make a "cheat sheet" of ART and CD guns by type, nationality and year. Maybe I'll put one together this weekend if I find the time.

Thanks for that
