Xkill -> Rays, What they do and why they are in the game (6/26/2010 3:23:40 AM)

All the stars in DW have "Gamma Rays, X-Rays" etc... But what they do?

Some people here was saying that X-rays and Gamma Rays are not good the health of living beigns, does this affect my colonies, and if, how do they do it?

From gameplay perspective I don't think they do that much. I think they mainly influence your energy collectors, as solar, gamma and x-ray are under energy category in the star window.

They do play a role in planet habitability, as in most main sequence stars (yellow stars) have about 500 solar and ~100 of gamma and x-rays. As you differ from those values you get red giants and white dwarves that I think don't have as many cosy habitable planets.

they do the same thing as different colored suns... look pretty and sound cool.
