Is there a tutorial on the supply system somewhere. I am having trouble understanding why a 64,000-unit supply column unloads in a port such as Melbourne and the city's supply backlog only rises by 3,000 units.

Perhaps a connected issue, what is the effect of making changes with the Supplies required buttons on the base main page? Why would I want to change, raise or lower this number and what would be the effect if I did?

You probably have one or two things going on.
1 - you may be grossly undersupplied in Oz. Use WITP AE Tracker to determine for sure, but you can look across the map and see how many bases dont have enough supply...
2 - you may have set supply stockpiling in certain cities so that all the supply is going there.
