Dundradal -> Error when trying to play Op Mars Mod (7/1/2010 10:32:24 PM)

When trying to connect to MMCC3 server I get this error message.

"Failed to extract units first time!..\Games\Save\CC3Start"

This message also comes up with normal COI after having BO installed.

Andrew Williams -> RE: Error when trying to play Op Mars Mod (7/1/2010 10:35:09 PM)

get the start file here

http://closecombat.matrixgames.com/CoI/OpMars.html

If after Starting MMCC3 you get an error that the game can't find CC3Start , download this file and unzip to c:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III\Games\Save\CC3Start.

For regular CoI

get the start file here

http://closecombat.matrixgames.com/CoI/coimods.html

If after Starting MMCC3 you get an error that the game can't find CC3Start , download this file and unzip to c:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III\Games\Save\CC3Start.

The servers are currently down as someone has been stuffing around with them and they are now disabled.

Have you heard from Alex?

No, not yet.

But if someone is messing with things that could be a good sign.

Andrew Williams -> RE: Error when trying to play Op Mars Mod (7/1/2010 10:41:22 PM)

I just checked the plugin and it backs up your existing CC3Start file and then replaces it with the BO one.

when you remove BO it puts the original CC3Start back in place, so that all looks correct... so I'm not sure why there is a problem but has always been a small glitch with MMCC3 ... hence the downloadable CC3start files

Damp and I are on BHQ now. Probably going to start playing WAR soon so if we don't respond that's why.

I'll remember that for future reference. Thanks.

Also got screwed by the missing CC3Start file. We need to check what the plugins are doing (or not doing), but then, that all part of the wonderful world of testing!... [;)]

Dundradal -> RE: Error when trying to play Op Mars Mod (7/2/2010 12:19:52 AM)

Heh don't worry I already know all about testing...I was one of the main testers for the fan mod Wing Commander Standoff for WC Secret Ops.

But yes there should be a bug report to look for what causes the start files to disappear and how to stop it from occurring.

Andrew Williams -> RE: Error when trying to play Op Mars Mod (7/2/2010 12:28:58 AM)

Just checked stock MMCC3MP client and Op_mars_client

Neither install CC3Start.

I'll revise both plugins and include the appropriate CC3start and that should fix the problem.

thanks

Still no email from the tech...maybe he figures he can handle it?

I'll send a note to Daniel later tonight to contact him.

BO Install

cc3Start=\games\save\
cc3.exe=\
CCRsrc.dll=\

The recently updated Operation Mars Install

cc3Start=\games\save\

Stock MMCC3 multiplayer

No cc3Start Line ... I'll fix that (it would have been installed when the game was first installed)

But in the Hide files section

[HideFiles]
*.dat=\MMCC3\

So that will back up your saved player data....  I'll get that added to BO and Op_mars

the only problem will arise if you use the same name in different campaigns.
