Jaroen -> Fields of Fire (7/13/2010 2:30:44 PM)

Is this a feature???

On the AAR on The Wargamer there's this very helpful image of an all around field of fire. I'm now wondering if that's a feature? It certainly looks that way but how to use it? I don't find an answer in the manual (might have overlooked it) or anywhere else.

Would be grateful for any help!

Hey Jaroen. Could you indicate specifically which image you're talking about? Will be more than happy to help.

I think it's "Photoshopped"

Yes, And it doesn't show the LOS/F to the rear

It's not a feature of the game Jaroen. That image was photoshopped to demonstrate to folks not familiar with how LOS or fields of fire work, how LOS is determined. It's strictly for demonstration purposes and is not listed as a feature in the features list.

Darn! [8|]

That explains! Thank you jomni for adding that image.

Would have been a terrific feature but I can manage with swinging the fire ranger! Does that make sense!? [8D]

It is a good idea. Something to consider for possible future releases. I've seen similar things in other, game titles. I think being able to turn it on or off would be a requirement as some folks might find it annoying. Definitely helpful as a "quick glace" sort of thing.

Something similar to the command range circles activated by Space Bar

JudgeDredd -> RE: Fields of Fire (7/15/2010 7:14:10 AM)

Well in this game there is no requirement to add arcs of fire as the arcs of fire are already in plae. As long as you know roughly what they are, then you should be able to understand where they can see/fire.

I think arcs of fire might be a "feature too far" for this game [:D]

Andrew Williams -> RE: Fields of Fire (7/15/2010 7:32:12 AM)

I'm inclined to agree

Hard Sarge -> RE: Fields of Fire (7/15/2010 1:50:38 PM)

well, the issue then is, it would be nice to know what your "real" FoF really is, it is easy to figure out what you think it should be, but with in the game, what you think you can see, and what the game thinks it can see, tend to be different

so a circle/Arc showing what you can see/fire at, when pressed would be nice

(like in that screen shot, a lot of what the overlay shows, is really blocked)

Since this is all speculation and discussion ... I tend to agree too that it wouldn't add much for me personally. I've never been for want of an enhanced LOS system as I feel CC's is adequate but I can also understand where it might benefit some people for whatever reason. Didn't see any reason to poo poo the idea based on my own personal preferences or assumptions about what the "typical" customer may or may not want. IMO there are higher priority items to consider for any possible new releases but it's something worth throwing into the pool of ideas.
