Hi,

I think that the supply level calculation is being based on the range to a supply source, and not on the best supply.

The 29 Indian (British) in India has 4 supply from Sitte Akyab, but if supply was calulated from Chittigong it would have 23 even though the MP cost would be more.

Savegame is attached.

I have a supply question. New player. Playing the campaign early in the game. I noticed that when the Japs land an invasion force they always have "alt supply 20". I know that fleet ships can provide some supply as per the manual. However, even when I have a much larger fleet in the location and they just have one or a couple ship groups, the supply stays at 20. Note this is when no supply point on the island has been captured yet and goes on turn after turn until I eliminate all enemy ships, at which point they are out of supply. Is there some special rule for Japan that I'm missing?

Supply is based upon certain types of ships.
You have to have 2x to neutralize the supply.

I think they may have changed the supply rule so the invader always gets 20 supply until it is neutralized.
It was done to help the AI, otherwise the AI invasions would fail.

The 2x number of ships to neutralize isn't working. The AI droped some units at the north end of Hawaii taking out my air units in those hexes.
I move every US ship to the location, about 30 ship groups set up in a couple big fleets. I destroyed most of the enemy forces, but one cruiser unit and one AP are still left. For serveral turns I send out land based air, and carrier attacks and bomb the sea zone but miss the ships. Every turn the enemy has full supply (Alt 20).
After 4 turns of trying, I finally kill these two enemy ship units. The enemy land units start to lose power. Several turns later, I getting ready to attack them. I can't attack from the city since that unit is frozen, so I have to invade my own island. But just before I make my landing, the enemy pops in with one ship unit and they are back at full strength. Now I'm trying to hit this one dang ship again turn after turn.
When big enemy fleets are present, it is easy to get lots of hit with air attacks. When one or two units are all there is, mostly I don't hit anything.
This needs some sort of fix. The 2x rule would be great if it worked.

From observation it seems that the beachhead supply rules only apply to a human player. The AI only needs a single ship in the sea zone to grant the maximum of 20

Razz1 -> RE: Supply Issue (7/30/2010 6:24:19 PM)

Yes like I said... we changed because the AI could not comprehend sending in enough ships to keep the units in supply.
Only applies to human.
