Herrbear -> JAPANESE WITHDRAWL DATE (7/26/2010 5:46:25 PM)

Can Japanses ships have a withdrawl date set up?

If YES, what port would they use and can they use Off Map locations?

Thank you.

Terminus -> RE: JAPANESE WITHDRAWL DATE (7/26/2010 7:33:48 PM)

Yes. Send them to San Francisco, and withdraw them there. It works perfectly. Off-map doesn't work.

Wow! Send a Japanese ship to San Francisco to withdraw! Who woulda thunk!? Just goes to show ya that the little main forum dwellers know so much more than the people who developed the game. This is really funny. You should definitely do this, after all, this is from a little main forum dweller who knows everything.

Thanks for the superiority complex John. You obviously can't detect sarcasm from the "little main forum dweller who knows everything."

This forum (not just the scenario design one) used to be so interesting. Now it's just a bunch of people who bitch about the game and the developers who give @$$hole responses like "no" and yours above.

One vote here for your SF reply being funny. I got the joke.

Ok, I got the joke, but I also thought Termy's response fine as well.

Everyone take a deeeep breath.  Breathe in.  Breathe out.  Now isn't that better?  [:D]

Hope the guy asking the question got the joke.
1 technically yes [why?]
2 Tokyo
3 No

I got the joke. [:D]

Now I have two conflicting answers. Terminous has said no this can't be done and you say it will work so I am still not sure.

The reason why is that I am looking at adding the German U-Boats that entered the Pacific and based at Penang.

You can give Japanese ships a withdraw date in the editor. So the technical answer is yes.

However, you can not actually withdraw Japanese ships. So the practical answer is no.

If you could withdraw the Japanese ships, it would be at Tokyo; Japanese ships can not use off-map bases.

If you give a japanese ship a withdraw date, the date will show up on the ship's screen, in white text. On the withdraw date, and afterward, the text will be in red. Other than being a possible annoyance to look at, it has no effect on the ship or game.
Note, however, if you give a Japanese ship (or Allied ship) a withdraw date, and then give your mod a starting date after the withdraw date, the ship will not appear in the mod. (ie- withdraw date of 420301, start date of 420501, ship will not appear)

Thank you.

Some Japanese subs were withdrawn from frontline service during the war and used as training vessels or training hulks. If it was possible to withdraw Japanese ships this could be simulated in the game. But that might be taking realism too far … even for WitP:AE. [:)]
