Perturabo -> WPO under Linux? (7/29/2010 9:57:27 PM)

Did anyone succeed at playing it on Wine?

No idea. I'd guess, no, as Windows system is a listed requirement for the game.

Linux has it's own implementation of Windows APIs - Wine that allows to run Windows programs. It isn't finshed yet, so some games work on it well, some games work worse, some poorly and some don't work at all.

Supposedly WitP:AE works in wine, so maybe WPO would, too?

EDIT- though, on WineHQ forums a guy named Morgoth posted in AUG2010 that he was having problems. Is that you?

Yes. I got no response, though.

I finally found a way to run it without buying WindowsXP or newer.

I got Vmware Player (freeware) and installed Windows98 (doesn't have any online activation DRM, can be bought relatively cheaply on eBay) on it and then installed WPO in that machine and I finally can play it.
I'll have to create a profile for it on Wine AppDB and report the problems, though. Maybe one day they'll finally make rendering map possible...

And now it works. That is the map finally is displayed. Sadly, sound seems to not work, only music. But yeah, it's finally playable under Wine 1.5.26. I've been waiting for it for years.
