Sorry about the achtung but I don't know the russian word for attention. Please read the post Heroes of Motherland betrayal. I have a query in there that I wanted you to see. Cheers!

I'll check it out. Sorry I missed it...WB ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

This is the answer, Anzac, in case you missed it in the other...WB ------------ What happened was that you got a decisive victory, which is very rare and skipped the battle for Moscow. That in turn brought you back to the same terrain as before. In the previous battle you were defending. You succeeded. You held your ground. Now your task is the opposite. You are to advance and push the Germans back. Same map, same terrain, different mission You've done exceeedingly well, Mate! I'm more than impressed and will be sure to avoid any TCP/IP fights with you. I've bled enough already ! Watchword may prove to be even more of a challenge, but I think you'll do fine Wild Bill ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

Thanks for the reply Wild Bill. Now I see what has happened but you can understand my confusion eh? Perhaps a little confession is in order. I'm playing the 4.2 version which allows you to keep the reinforcements that you can get every battle and keep them as core units. I know this has been fixed in 4.4 and that they will be treated as aux. units i.e. they will disappear after the battle. So I have built up a nice little collection of KV's when I only had bt-7's before. But I will definitely update my version for the Watchword campaign and I look forward to it. As for playing against you online I'd be honored. I've never playing against a human before and I'm sure I would get a greater challenge. Btw I love your Moment of Truth scenario. Those mines are killers! Keep up the good work and I look forward to your upcoming scenarios & campaigns.

I appreciate the thought, Mate. I love Moment of Truth too. That was one of the first ones I did with SPWAW when it first came out. And it has stood up quite well through all of the mods and changes. I still play it just to try different tactics on both sides. One day we will get that game started. But you'll have to take a number and wait About 8 from both Combat Mission and SPWAW have called the old Gunfighter out into the street before you. By the time they get through with me, you may have only the hollow shell of WB to pound on! Anzac, are you Aussie or Kiwi?? Either way, I know I'm probably insulting you for asking you if you are the other! My wife is a from NZ (Dunedin). I went to NZ several year ago at Christmas (it felt more like the 4th of July in the states). I had the privelage of visiting with an El Alemain (sp?) veteran, if I remember correctly. That was very interesting, as I'd never gotten that slant of the story before. Dave Boutwell

*Sigh* If at first you don't succeed try, try again! I don't know what happened to my other reply WB but it seems to have disappeared... Here goes. Thanks for the answer you gave me and now I understand what has happened. I missed the battle for Moscow?!? Bugger!! Anyway a confession - I'm playing the 4.2 version which allows you to keep the reinforcements that you can get every battle. I know this has been changed in 4.4 so that they are treated as aux. units (much better IMO). This has allowed me to build up a collection of KV's and T-34's, but let's face it - Ivan would have had no show with just light BT-7's would they? Plus I'm a Guards unit now; I deserve better tanks! My top scoring ace is a Russian tanker captain by the name of Lyutiy. He has 14 kills. I had another one called Yakovlev but sadly his tank was knocked out in the Battle of Gueinovo and the surviving crew were gunned down! Talking about this next battle though I'm a little bit concerned. So far I have only come up against a lightly guarded town (Istra) with some engineers and a armoured train. There has been a weak attack from the north with some panzers and my reconnoitering to the west has revealed two capt. anti-tank guns with Mineram III tanks defending the small village which has two 750 pt hexes in it. Surely shome mistake?? Has the computer AI had a mental breakdown or is this deliberate? Btw I love your Moment of Truth scenario. Those mines are killers! I look forward to your next scenarios & campaigns. You can be sure that I will let you know how I do from the otherside in Watchword. Happy gaming!

Anzac -> (12/4/2000 4:54:00 PM)

Hi Dave. I'm from the Shaky Isles or NZ as it's otherwise known. ...So I'm not from the land of the great rock and the didgeridoo. I'm probably a lot younger than most of the SPWAW games playing fraternity that use this forum (Hint: I was born in the 70's). And WB you will be glad to know I finished Heroes today. I got a campaign score of 19 with 1 draw, 2 marginals and then a string of decisives (5) in a row. In the last battle I only lost an (unlucky?) 13 men to the 150+ that the Germans lost. My top tank killer was Capt. Lyutiy with 15 kills. Other noteworthy mentions were 1st Lt. Lunacharsky with 12 kills. He was special 'cos he was a 76.2 AT gun. Anyway I really enjoyed this campaign and after I've finished Moment of Truth I'll be playing the Watchword campaign. Do you think I need to raise the difficulty levels for this one? Maybe it's just that the default AI is too predictable. In any case I will let you know what I think of it. Happy gaming folks.

Wild Bill -> (12/5/2000 12:22:00 PM)

You're tough, all right, but these I think are a little harder than Heroes. You might want to leave as is. Then again, Mate, you might be able to waste them too easily. Give it a shot. Congratulations. Well done on Heroes!..WB ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games
