I'm having a current issue, all the ships that I have that need refueling run automatically and don't defend themselves no matter what. I have a capital ship with 627 Firepower, running from a 62 Firepower frigate. I tell him to attack but instantly he tries to escape again? My entire colony is being annihilated and there's at least 25 military ships not attacking because they are all out fuel. Is there something I can set for them not to run like little girls and take 5 seconds to shoot a few times at them? It's very annoying.

Ships use energy to power their weapons... Energy is derived primarily from reactors. Reactors use fuel. no fuel = no energy = no guns.

So unless a 'Ramming Speed' gets implemented in the game, those ships are merely unarmed targets in a gun-fight.

On a related note, if something has solar panels, it may still be able to fire weapons in a fight, even without fuel -- up to the power generation capacity of the panels, if a star is nearby and the object is stationary... //Torrenal
