Wild Bill -> Back in Business! (8/9/2002 2:10:24 AM)

Well, gentlemen, its time for the old Colonel to get back to work. Enough grieving and self-pity for personal situations.

I've three projects on which I am beginning work as we speak. THe first is a complete revision of all WBW scenarios and campaigns for the game. It is a monumental task. but I'm off to do it.

I could use some help. Any volunteers?

I'm going back to designing scenarios. I've got the urge back. Get ready for some action.

TIme for a new campaign! It won't be a mega-campaign but one to go inside of SPWAW. Any suggestions?

I've missed you guys and the forum. But I'm going to get back down to business. TIme to raise some hell around here! ;)

Wild Bill
"Time for a new campaine? Any suggestions?"
KURSK ! Just part of it, any part you want, like maybe the Southern part or maybe the Northern part?

Welcome back!!

PS. Not to many mines please.:D

Orzel Bialy -> Wild Bill.... (8/9/2002 3:35:50 AM)

That is without doubt the best news I've seen on this forum in some time! :D

Welcome back...can't wait to see what you have in store for us as far as the re-visions....as well as any new material you might have on the drawing boards.

I would be happy to render my limited services should you have any need of them. I do a little map making here and there...and I have play tested scenarios for REMF...so if I can be of any service in those departments just say the word.

Hot D@mn!!! This day just got a whole heck of a lot better! ;)

fontenoy -> (8/9/2002 4:20:09 AM)

Welcome back Bill!
While I can't claim to know you like many of the veterans of this board,your scenarios and campaigns have been an integral part of my SPWAW experience.I look forward to any new work you contribute to this wonderful game.
May you continue to recieve as much pleasure in the creation of your work as we derive from the playing of same.As to suggestions,perhaps the Canadians in Italy.Particularly the Ortona campaign.Another that comes to mind is the British in Burma under the sorely underrated General Slim.
Rest assured though,that we eagerly anticipate any scenario or campaign you wish to share with us.
Regards,
Fontenoy.

Wild Bill -> (8/9/2002 4:56:26 AM)

Thank you Gentlemen! Thank you so much. Your words of encouragement are greatly appreciated and highly motivating.

I look forward to your evaluations and critiques of future efforts. I saw your offer, Orzel. I'll be in touch with you, count on it.

Fontenoy, excellent suggestions on two very neglected areas historically and scenario wise.

M-4, you've been doing quite well as it is. You've made a lot of folks quite happy with your fine design work.

I think perhaps a "Kursk" campaign might be just the thing, Kevin, perhaps the better known Southern End under Manstein the master.

Those would both be excellent starting points.

I'm grateful.

Wild Bill

Supervisor -> OUTSTANDING (8/9/2002 4:58:15 AM)

Somebody pinch me, I could have sworn WB said he was coming back (not that he ever left as his legacey is within all true Steel Panther fans). I knew there was a heaven!:) :D :cool: :D :) :D :cool: ;)

Wild Bill -> (8/9/2002 5:00:14 AM)

You might change that a bit, Gmenfan, when you tackle some of the new ones. Oh well, such is the price of war. Thanks!

Wild Bill

Supervisor -> (8/9/2002 5:13:29 AM)

Looking forward to the challenge!:)

Grenadier -> (8/9/2002 9:49:14 AM)

Kursk in the north, like the 5 day battle of Ponryi, the Stalingrad of Kursk. BTW, I 'm glad you're back. Can I take a break now?
P.S. Ther Kursk vs Dubno" thread is in the Matrix games general discussion forum

sg -> Oh No!!! (8/9/2002 10:50:42 AM)

He's Back... guess I'll have to brush up on proper use of Engineer uints to detect those mines....never where you expected them, but always destroying units you're trying to protect from them! Welcome back. Your scenarios/campaigns have schooled all SPWAW players very well.

But one thing is for sure, with you back in the scenario creating business along with all the other fine designers out there... you're all going to make SPWAW pop really soon. I've got upwards of 650 scenarios now and at the rate you guys are makin them the 999 alotted spaces will be filled really soon. Oh well, I guess thats a good thing. Just gotta find the time to catch up and play them all.

But please WB, take it easy on the mines will ya...That expolsion late at night startles me and p*sses off the wife and kids.

Steve.

chief -> (8/9/2002 11:41:53 AM)

We dont need no Spwaw updates, just post Wild Bills new work and I'll be a happy puppy. You the BOSS Wild Bill...Thank you for the past scenarios and for the ones in the future.:) :) :cool:

Wild Bill -> (8/9/2002 8:49:21 PM)

Okay, okay...I'll go easy on the mines, though the alternatives might be bunkers and pillboxes or hidden assault units or savage reinforcements. :p

You're forcing me to be creative, which might or might not be a good thing.

We need some more Pacific flavor and some tanks. How about a small campaign on some plucky Stuart Marine tanks supporting Army units in the New Georgia campaign?

You think that could work?

Wild Bill

sg -> Sounds great to me... (8/10/2002 12:42:33 AM)

Tanks in the Pacific suits me just fine... I'm really enjoying some of your finest work in MCW. Since it'll be the Pacific I'm sure we'll have our fill of bunker/cave busting to do.

BTW, I thought you were already darn creative... sounds like you're getting downright mean now.:)

Looking forward to the new stuff.

Steve

CCB -> (8/11/2002 1:23:22 PM)

1st SS at Kharkov 3/43 would be nice. Manstein, Pz IVGs, Tiger Is, snow...

Maybe a campaign from first attack all the way to the street fight for Kharkov itself in the mud. (if it hasn't already been done)

Just a thought. I did like you small squads scenario for Mt Suribachi, Iwo Jima! Great Idea that one. :)

Gallo Rojo -> Yeha!! A new WB's Campaign!! (8/12/2002 5:12:54 AM)

Hola Salvaje! Que bueno ver que viene una nueva campaña!

Here are my preferences for a new campaign

1- Kursk sounds great. I vote for the southern pincer, following one of the SS divisions and taking part in Porkorovka battle. Just make it challenging, as you know as you use to.
2- A soviet side one. Bargation in 1944 or the advance to Berlin on 1945.
3- France 1940. I have a storyboard for this one, but I never find the time to design it.
4- Crete.

Kind regards,
Gallo

Baldrick -> (8/12/2002 10:27:28 AM)

Gee! Is my face red. Didn't know you were outta the loop but glad you're back as I always look forward to new stuff from you.

North Africa playing the Germans gets my vote. I see alot of enthusiasm on this thread for the eastern front. Personally I avoid those scenarios. A single Red with a Tokarev could beat me.

BruceAZ -> Good news (8/12/2002 11:19:43 AM)

I second that, emphatically.:D

Just to get you started, here are the statistics of Tigers taking part in Operation Zitadelle, from "Germany's Tiger Tanks - Tiger I & II: Combat Tactics" by Thomas L. Jentz: There were a total of 133 Tigers available at the start of the offensive - 45 serving with sPzAbt.503, 13 with 13 Kp.SSPzRgt1 (LSSAH), 14 with 8.Kp.SSPzRgt2 (Das Reich), 15 with s.Kp.SSPzRgt3 (Totenkopf), 15 with 13.Kp.PzRgtGD (Großdeutschland), and finally 31 with sPzAbt.505. A total of 19 Tigers arrived as replacements during Operation Zitadelle: 5 for 13.Kp.SSPzRgt1 (LSSAH), and 14 for sPzAbt. 505. From 5 July to 20 July 1943, 13 Tigers were lost (total writeoffs):
4 by sPzAbt.503, 1 by 13.Kp.SSPzRgt1 (LSSAH), 1 by 8.Kp.SSPzRgt2 (Das Reich), 1 by s.Kp.SSPzRgt3 (Totenkopf), and 6 by sPzAbt.505.

If you are really interested, I can send you a day by day operational Tigers status for each unit. Just send me a note...

Welcome back, WB! ;) :D :cool:

Wild Bill -> WOW! (8/14/2002 5:10:33 AM)

Gentlemen, gentlemen!

What can I say? You've given me great incentive. My oh my, so many of my beloved gaming and personal friends. How wonderful to hear from you and for some new faces anxious for some WB "get some!"

Okay! You got it. I have a pretty good little team formed now and enough folks for the job.

The first battle is being tested even as I write this and more on the way.

Grenadier and I are cooking up a little joint surprise for you that will satisfy the numerous requests for a particular battle in this thread.

I look forward to that one. So will you! ;)

Thanks again. These messages are most encouraging!

Wild Bill

mao -> (8/14/2002 8:24:56 PM)

Oh, Bill... your Marine tank idea sounds great.

something other than east front would be really good :)

Wild Bill -> (8/14/2002 10:13:05 PM)

Hey Mao!

Been awhile...its in the works, my friend. I'll look forward to your comments afterward on the scenarios and/or campaign. I think I'll release it as a series of scenarios (3) or a small campaign. The player can choose the one he prefers.

Wild Bill
