medicff -> Leaders created with Great Stats? (8/11/2010 11:42:15 PM)

Latest patch, New Start vs Jap AI, DaBabes Scenario 28 (JWE states no leader changes).

Attempting to change leader of CV Yorktown or Task Force I get the following choices.

I am not sure how AE deals with random leaders or if there still are ones created but the only references to the leaders in Question are Carey, J (8331) and Ward, H W (14800) which are not exact.

These leaders are still there (in fact one was assigned as random tf leader with tf creation) and I have saves.

Pat

The code for generating a TF leader includes a random value based on the number of ships in the TF. This is intended to reflect the probability that a better leader would be selected for a larger TF. In order to get stats like those the TFs must be at maximum size AND get a very favorable die roll.

There are indeed issues with extreme values (at both ends). I'd suggest you enjoy your top quality leaders. You may not see such again for a long time.

Actually started when I just want to replace the Yorktown's commander. Looking in tracker he actually has NEGATIVE values. I think there must be an error in the creation causing the numbers. Don't know if its reproducible but I still have the leaders it created.

In theory, leader stats are suppose to be out of 100.
Probably explains why to Tracker these numbers have gone funny.

I am getting the whacky trait numbers as well in 2/42 with latest patch. Only seem to get them when picking a task force commander. When selecting a single ship commander the numbers appear normal thus far. However, routinely getting numbers in the 200's when picking a task force commander so this is not rare by any stretch of the imagination.

Btw, playing allies against AI and these task forces are not unusually large. Just happened picking a task force commander for a 7 ship task foce.

I always assumed it was a display bug and stayed away from them.

To confirm: these TF leaders with 200+ skills are 'real' in game i.e. they're not using the '-' values that show up in Tracker?

I have about 5 or 6 in my current PBEM with latest patch.

WitPTracker treats the attributes as signed bytes, since we assumed the values would be 100 or less. So any value above 127 appears as a negative number (2's complement).

In the latest patch using Juan's Scenario #46 I've seen this when picking leaders for amphib task forces from about mid-1943. A couple of them in the roster have land values higher than 100. I thought it was a feature, not a bug.

Cheers,
