bo -> still the demo (8/15/2010 4:08:08 PM)

Before I purchase a game I have to like what I see in a demo, and I am really confused by this demo. Playing the Japanese in the 1941 mod I see that the Japanese forces are in terrible shape on the land at sea and in the air, now maybe this is a programmers design that he or she would want it that way but it does not make an ounce of common sense to me. For example the Japanese carrier force attacking Pearl is at 60% capacity or damage or whatever, In reality these forces were at their peak on dec 7th 1941, now maybe the real game its not this way, dont know. Most of the ground forces are at half capacity and have to have valuable PP's to bring them up to snuff. The Air force is no wheres near up to peak performance. What goes here, something I am missing, HELP!

There is only one unit icon for land units.
In plave of divisions and brigades, we have divisions and corps.
Each country hs a different size army. Some had 6 ,8, 10, 12 and 15k per division.
Hence the model is very flexable. This gives you the opportunity to increase size if you wish.
strength is based upon history.
If you bought the game you would have the rules and it would explain the units.
For example each ship represents a group of other ships. To reduce the number of units in the game destroyers are added to these groups to determine strength.
Japan did not have that many destroyers hence their strength ratio.
Carriers have been fixed in the Rising Sun Scenario.
Airplanes are 50 per strength point.
Air power was not a big factor in Asia.
Again the units are based upon OOB on 12/7/1941
The Rising Sun addresses the plane issue by making them 24 planes per strength point.

So I tried the Demo today and for the life of me I can not figure out how to move air units over the ocean. I have transport points available, but I can not get air units in Alaska to get into transport and re-base does not go far enough.

Also I was able to re-base my surviving fighter in the Philippines to Darwin but could not re-base after that anywhere even though I had supply from Darwin.

Could one of you nice folks help here?

Thanks.

Can not transport Air via ocean liners.

Neer SMP Strategic movement point.

Buy them. expensive.

You only have so many. Once you use them... you have to wait until the next turn.

8 10 and 15 SMP to move fighter tac bomber strategic bomber

Plus it cost PP to move too!

I figured that out after I posted. Although in the demo I could strategic move my Tactical Bombers with only 2 smp. I did spend a bunch of PPs to do it so I went negative.

Thanks for the info.
