Lomri -> floatation failure message (8/16/2010 3:31:04 PM)

During a repair check you get those messages about flotation repair failing but it doesn't seem to be written to any logs. I looked in Ops and Combat, even did a grep of the whole save directory. Tracker doesn't have it. Am I missing a spot, or is it just not logged?

(Certainly I can see the evidence of the effect from Tracker though, Enterprise going from 71 to 72 float, creeping towards PH - but I occasionally miss this message when I'm not expecting it, like on subs I didn't realize were damaged).

I'd love to be able to see subs damage using a mouseover, it would save alot of clicking and time. Sometimes when a ASW searchplane spots a sub it will drop some bombs on it, which could be the result of your damage.

Yeah, I've noticed that on transports as well. FOW is so good our captains aren't reporting in when they get :::HIT from search planes! "Operating under strict radio silence" I guess ;)

Yep, have to check your subs every turn for bomb damage. But it is pretty easy, just click the ships menu and filter our all but subs. Them click on the flotation tab at top and your damaged subs will go to the top of the chart. You really have to do this every turn.

All messages shown in the Combat Events scroll (the message window at the lower left) are captured in the Combat Events text file. I believe the floatation failure, pump failure, etc messages should be there.

Hey Don, thanks for the reply.

Floatation failure actually doesn't show up in message window - it is only a pop up in the center of the screen. My guess is that when this display was added the message didn't get flagged as the type of message that goes in the message window. Not even sure what it falls under for category of 'text display speed' settings.

Anyhow, just a small thing.

If you look at the operations report you will get a message saying "Submarine I-19 is Hit!" or what ever the name of the sub is. If you see that, you need to go check that sub as it will be damaged. That is the only notification that you get when a plane successfully bombs a sub.

If you want to see ships damaged, you can click on the single ship icon on the top bar and sort for flotation and engine damage.  You can't open the TF they are in and do any work with them, but you can center the map on a ship, close the ship display, then click on the TF that needs attention.

Yeah, looking through for damaged ships/subs is important, but still wish the messages for what is going on showed up in the logs. A lot of color has been added into the game with additional descriptives of what is going on in the logs. This one must have missed its way in however. Absolutely the kind of thing you might be looking for in WitPTracker when you are checking "alerts".

Thanks for the input folks.
