WhiteElephants -> LV "Core" units??? (8/10/2002 5:37:33 AM)

It appears that I have units carry over from one engagement to the next, but I'm unsure as to whether or not their performance is linked to an increase in experience, or simply a function of moving onto the next scenario. Furthermore, I'm unaware as to how to indentify these units.

Knowing whether or not I should try and preserve units from scenario to scenario would, I think, alter my approach to the game.

In MCLV your Core Force consists of the A0 (HQ unit) through P3 (Stugs) units. Anything after that on your unit list is cannon fodder. Try not to lose your Core Forces but even if they get destroyed there is a high probability they will come back for the next scenario with improved experience. Just don't make a habit of it.

I asked the question about how to gain the most experience in MCLV a while ago and I believe the consensus was that your units get experience by shooting, being shot at, and/or killing other units. I use my Core to finish off a crippled enemy unit to get the kill, but apparently kills alone don't gain you experience.

Also, if your unit is killed/disbursed, your kill count starts over. One of my Recon HTs (J7) has 70+ kills and it will break my heart if I lose that unit.

So, the Stugs are my only core tanks then, yes?

The ones that add later, the PzII's I think, are fodder?

Thanks.

That's correct. MCLV is slanted more towards infantry, as is MCWT. If you are a tankie. try to pick up MCNA Dersert Fox 1942, as it is geared much more towards armor.

It might be better if you renamed your core units. It makes it a little easier to know which units can be expended and which you should try to protect.

Even losing your cannon fodder units can impact your level of victory if you lose enough of them.
