John Lansford -> RE: Is there a doctor in the house? (8/22/2010 2:08:23 PM)

A few weeks ago I had my physical, which of course included the "bend over and lean on the table" procedure. My doctor didn't like what she discovered, so I was referred to a urologist for more tests. After a biopsy and some more tests, they diagnosed me with early stage prostate cancer. I'm scheduled for surgery in October to remove the prostate, and my urologist and everyone else says there shouldn't be any problems with the surgery or my recovery. Long story short, the tests can save your life, even if they may be uncomfortable or embarrassing. My cancer was caught in time, and fortunately it's one of the really slow growing ones, but not all prostate cancers are. Any man over the age of 45 should get tested, or earlier if there's a history of prostate cancer in your family. Don't be afraid to get tested.
