Matrix -
You really should talk to your new partners over at Slitherine about the "editor" they have produced for Battlefield Academy! I initiated a thread on the slitherine forum titled "Scenario creation & scripting" suggesting the revision of that editor to something a lot more user friendly. The user (and slitherine's) comments and replies are interesting.

Apparently the people at slitherine have never used real scenario editors as are included in TOAW, John Tillers Campaign Series, etc., etc., etc.

In my opinion, Battlefield Academy is going to have short legs if a better editor is not provided soon.

Yep thats the main reason I haven't bought it.

Same here along with not having a random map generator to begin with.

Also Battlefield Academy is 3D so adding new units will involve 3D meshes, animation, textures etc.
Not really easy unless you're in the buisness.

Just to clarify - the editor lets you build scenarios without any editing of text files. You only need to edit text files to do the more complex and cool stuff, but if you are not comfortable with it, don't do it. In fact multiplayer sxcenarios do not allow you to edit the text files at all for security reasons so you must only use teh built in editor. People have already started creating new units & scenarios - I saw a Greyhound released and others on the way and a few single player and multiplayer scenarios are out already from modders.

At least Slitherine (like Matrix) are listening to the players and trying to think of ways to make things better.

Well, if you want to add in yet another modification of a Sherman, then you can always just duplicate one of the other (flaming metal-coffins) from the list.  They do look similar to each other after all :P  The text at the bottom of the screen will always tell you what unit your looking at, even if you can't visually tell one Sherman/Stug/Infantry/Prostitute from another...

Good then I hope they are listening when gamers are wanting random generators for the game.

Battle Generators are one of the reasons why JTCS, SPWAW,and WinSPMBT will never leave my harddrive. Unlimited re playability just adds much more life span to the game.

Amen to that.

Right, neither is good 2D artwork.

Come on, when I pimp the engine of my car I do not blame Volvo that they made it so hard to built a complete engine block from scratch down in my basement hobby room [;)]
This is technology my friend.
